I applied for a PTSD-support-dog

I applied for a PTSD support dog. They have an extensive screening process. I'd love to have a dog. I think it could help tremendously. But I'm a bit scared, when I'm too low, I can't take care of the dog. What are your experiences?

It can be hard, impossible to tell the future, but with how dogs are you may find that you have the caring for him or her that encourages you and inspires you to take care of it. Mutual support from and to each other. Pets, both support or otherwise can bring a world of difference in outlook.

Dogs are great, I love dogs :)

I think there are some small dogs that you don't need to walk as much if they have enough space to run around.

I'm not sure if a cat could also be an PTSD support animal, but maybe. Certain breeds are more affectionate than others.

I think there's different levels of support animals. Getting an ESA is a lower standard I think (at least in the US). To get an ESA, you just need to have a letter from a healthcare professional, I think.

I don't think you can take an ESA on public transportation or in public places though. The ESA designation will let you get a dog in an apartment, even if the landlord says "no pets", because the dog would be an ESA, not a pet.

I know someone with a support dog. They go almost everywhere with it (USA). They helped do the training for the dog as it grew up from a 6 month old puppy to an adult dog. It even goes to uni classes with them.
The whole experience turned out really well. It is a great, and adorable dog.
Best of luck to you. : )
