So, this isn't about my job, but the place my mom works at. She has been there for about 6 months and things have been going well. Now there is new management and they just have no clue what they are doing. The new general manager is trying to change everything. He has ZERO restaurant experience, so I have no idea how he got to manage a restaurant. He is two faced and he hits on the women that work there. There is a manager there that always bothers my mom and keeps touching her, just generally being inappropriate. But aside from that, they were talking about firing her. They said they didn't need a dishwasher, which makes no sense. As it is, she can barely get them done because of the amount of them, now they want to get rid of her? They told her just last week that her job was secure. And they were doing this behind her back. The person that told my mom what was up is another worker that she is close to. Why couldn't the managers tell her that themselves? Are they that spineless and shady? It just makes me mad, it was sad to see her cry, and that was the first job she found in years, mostly because of her age. It is ok for them to fire her without a good reason? She is always there, even early, does a great job and is friendly and helpful. I think they are just making up reasons to get rid of her and I don't see a point to it.

I am sorry about what your mom has to put up with. Contact the state's department of labor and see if there is something they can do.

There are laws here in my corrupted state that actually protects the whistleblowers if someone files a report.

Is this a major food chain your mom is working for or family owned?

Yeah, it's a major food chain. It just seems like this new line of management has no clue what they are doing. She might just be better off at another place. She has been advised to seek other employment instead of letting them fire her. I know she doesn't need all of that stress.

This just sounds awful and so sorry that your mother is enduring such treatment from this new management. Is there anyway that she can contact the HR dept of the franchise or further up the corporate ladder?... Agree completely she doesn't deserve this type of treatment-no one does. Sending you and your mom hugs.

Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it :) They are trying to get rid of the general manager since it seems like he is making most of these wrong decisions, and they are going to give my mom back her normal working hours. So that is good progress.
