I don't really do jokes, but I'll check in. I was depressed for a while, but I decided to ignore my misgivings and go and check out the grand opening of the new Sheetz convenience store in the area (this is where you can find info about Sheetz -->

I heard about it on Facebook, but I had no idea how crowded it'd get plus it take me an hour and a half to get there by bus, so I just wasn't sure. I'm glad I went. They were giving away free samples of sandwiches, fried appetizers, smoothies, and slushies. I didn't really care so much about the ceremony, but I waited for it to be over so I could go in the store and get the free coffee they're giving out today. And see what I could have for dinner with the large amount of change I'd forgotten about since November.
They were giving away 3 free gift cards: 2 were worth $250 and the grand prize was $1000. Unfortunately I didn't win anything besides a chapstick from the prize wheel. And I didn't even nab one of the things (towels? blankets? IDK) they were giving away to the first people who came in because I waited til the action died down a tiny bit. But it wasn't as crowded as I'd feared, so I grabbed a free coffee and picked out one of their cotton candy donuts that I use to love but hadn't had in years and wasn't sure if they still had. I got two cheap hot dogs (made to order, so they're not as gross as a lot of gas station hot dogs) with their spicy "Boom Boom" sauce and onions and relish. Maybe if I go again I'll skip the Boom Boom sauce because it was spicy enough that I couldn't taste the relatively mild onions. As I ate that, I counted the surprising amount of change I had left and saw that I had enough for a milkshake because they were on special for $2. Tried a caramel fudge brownie shake. Pretty good. Now I'm so full.
That was pretty great that I was able to do that today. I also don't love the area it's in. I think it's a decent area, but the second bus I was on, from downtown out to the actual Sheetz, drove past the motel I had lived in for two months when I couldn't find a place, and I could see the abandoned bus shelter I spent a night behind after I'd run out of money for the motel. That just brings back some really bad memories I'd like to avoid, but I was okay. The last time I went past it a few weeks ago, I got really upset and it pretty much ruined my entire day, so I'm happy with how I handled it today.
Pretty proud of myself overall. About to head home. Hope the bus isn't too far away because this one doesn't come too often.
