Here we are, folks, another day in the neighborhood.

I don't have a challenge, per usual, but let's have everyone instead tell us their favorite band/group/music.. especially such that makes them feel better when they're not well.
My all the time go-to music is Pink Floyd and Tool. They're great at keeping me from spiraling.

Hello lovely café peeps - thought I would stop by and say hello to avoid having to do the work I don't want to do for another couple of minutes ;)

I like music you can really crank up and sing to - power ballads, musical theatre... something with a proper melody so I can put it on in the car where nobody has to listen to my caterwauling and singgggg!

Well if you're in the car then that's the perfect place to be caterwauling and screaming to the tunes, @Freya What better place is there? Some would say the shower but then people might hear you. hahaha I always like to see people driving along jamming out. I mean, I do laugh at them but I like that they're having a great time too.

Wow, hard to pick a favourite...

My go to bands are generally The Cure, The Stereophonics, Echo and the Bunnymen, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and The Teardrop Explodes.

When I've had a few too many gin & tonics it tends to be Bananarama :p

yo. Guess I've had a pretty good day so far. Besides having to deal with some chaos as a literal fire was being fought downtown. But I had a nice meeting with my therapist, and he noticed a positive change in my demeanor from last week. Last night I found $10 on the sidewalk downtown, so today I treated myself to 2 new menu items of places I frequent that I've seen advertised but was unable to try before due to lack of money. Got a Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino at Starbucks, and I had a triple thick brown sugar bacon BLT at Arby's. Both good. The only disappointment I had when I was checking out a used/rare bookstore... I love places like that, but it was so much smaller and more disorganized than I expected. A little sad, but that's okay. Coming up for this weekend I have a volunteer orientation for the animal shelter coming up tomorrow afternoon, and I might be going to a baseball game Sunday afternoon since the SF Giants are in town. Not 100% decided on the game, but I'm leaning towards yes.

A lot of times I will listen to Blue October when I'm feeling down. Their older songs remind me that I'm not alone in feeling depressed, and their newer songs (like the one I quote in my signature) are a lot more hopeful and positive. When I'm alone I'll almost always sing along with the music. Blue October is good to sing, but I find songs by Jens Lekman to be particularly fun, and I also have a good time with The Magnetic Fields in particular because a lot of their songs are pretty low. I used to be discouraged that my voice was too high to sing them in the original octave but now I get to feel good about my progress now that I can sing (some of) them.

My Arby's sandwich was so good that I brought some to share.

If you don't eat pork/meat, you can have some Mediterranean baked sweet potatoes! (or if you want sweet potatoes in addition to the BLT, feel free. There's plenty to go around.

@baywasp Thanks for thinking of the vegetarians, and WOW that potato dish looks incredible. Are those chickpeas on top? That would never cross my mind. I want to emulate this. Yummmmmm

Wahoo for finding cash on the ground and treating yourself!

Hi @walkerbait95 I like your subject matter in the cafe today! Next to laughter, music is my favorite medicine. I love all kinds of music funk, rock, rap/hip-hop, bluegrass you name it! When I'm anxious and uncomfortable I play Widespread Panic. The funky rhythm and soothing voice of John Bell calm me down. Here's some "Coconuts" ... there's enough for everyone :) i hope you enjoy!
