Hello all,

I thought I'd open the cafe today.
Im feeling pretty wiped out today after a busy few days. I'm trying to relax and take it easy but in these moments I tend to feel guilty that I'm not getting on and doing stuff, as I see rest as unproductive.

This made me think and wonder, so todays question is:

What you do to relax when your feeling wiped and need to recharge your batteries?

Thanks for the cafe @Inastorm

Great question!

Right now is a particularly stressful time for me, so I've been trying to have "worry breaks". This is where for a set time, I don't allow myself to worry. I usually do some kind of craft during that time (short time - like 30 mins). I've started an embroidery piece that is good for taking my mind off my worries.

I use CBD/THC edibles to help me relax also. Legal in Texas and just as effective as any pill the pdoc has ever prescribed.

My “form” of relaxation is exercise. Weird I know. Keeps my mind occupied. Worry breaks is a good term for it. I also need to vent which is why I vent on SF. I used to vent in my journal but it got read which is why I’m divorced. But I am in a good space emotionally right now so I haven’t posted anything but on the Cafe.

Hey Inastorm, thanks so much for posting a cafe for today, and for tagging me too. Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling stressed but I hope you’ll feel less stressed and more relaxed soon :)

What you do to relax when your feeling wiped and need to recharge your batteries?
I do lotsa different things to try to help myself calm down and/or recharge when drained:

- Reading - I love that it takes my mind off of whatever I might be feeling worried/stressed about.

- Writing/typing - whether it’s a poem, or more of a diary/journal type thing, it too helps take my mind off my stress/worry, or at least helps me be a bit more focused with it, which is still hugely helpful imo.

- Taking a long, relaxing bath.

- Walking can help, outside in the fresh air is the best, but if it’s too cold or otherwise crappy weather then inside still helps a lot as well. Been sick for the last few weeks so haven’t been doing it much, need to get back into it though.

- There’s various foods that can supposedly aid in recharging as well, I should really look into them. This is definitely one I don’t do as much as I should. Eating a balanced diet helps the body on all levels though for sure.

Hope everyone has a nice day :)

Thank you for opening and for the tag.

i have often felt the same (still do) about relaxing. It has been explained to me that in relaxing, it is extremely productive. It isn't an outward productivity that can be tangible. However, it is one of the most productive things you can do. It rests your mind, body and allows your body to begin to heal. This can be outwardly noticed because when you do relax, you are recharged. Like a vehicle that gets a tune up. You can think more clearly and work better. Make less mistakes.

i still have huge issues seeing it this way for myself. However i do see it. It's just difficult to change my view about it when turned inward.

To answer the question.... i try and take a drive to the mountains, listen to music, or do something creative.

Good afternoon café

Thank you for opening it and the good question @Inastorm.

The ocean and beach used to be my guaranteed relaxation place, but I'm no longer there. Now, I find relaxation during the last few minutes of a run when on the street that goes slightly downhill, and reading fiction, and in a quiet, warm sudsy bath.

I go out into my yard and watch the squirrels and birds during the day, cats and raccoons and occasional possums at night.

Sometimes I’ll wear earbuds and listen to music, sometimes I’ll take a cup of coffee with me, but mostly I just like being still for a little while and observing the world around me.
