I have both, and they build on each other. When the pain in my back is bad, my state of mind suffers. And if I'm depressed, or seemingly anything on my mind, the physical pain is worse.

I would also prefer dealing with physical pain, than mental/emotional pain.
you are right on how the pain works. if i'm stressed my pain gets worse

If acupuncture works then why are people who use it still in pain?
This is a bit like saying "If conventional medicine works then why are people who use it still sick?". Some of the people who use conventional medicine get better, some improve a little, and some don't get better, or get worse. It's the same for acupuncture, though in contrast it's very benign and there's a low rate of adverse outcomes.

Acupuncture can help a lot of people with a lot of different conditions, but especially people with chronic pain. Not all conditions and not all patients are going to respond to treatment equally well, nor are all acupuncturists equally capable.

Medicare now covers treatments for lower back pain with acupuncture because it's been shown to treat lower back pain very well. Up to 20 treatments per year are approved, and if there's signs of improvement, more treatments can be added. So some people are going to get better after less than 20 treatments, some will get better only after more than 20 treatments, some will get only a little better with any number of treatments, and some won't get better at all.

Depression makes my pain worse, I've thought this was due to me not moving around much but wonder if there is something more going on as well. I've found someone who does dry needling it's around $80 which isnt too bad if you have it, thought it would be more. I'm a little nervous as health care in general isn't very good where I live, still have that weird fear of being paralyzed

Do you any more info on this? I'm willing to try, if it can be covered by Medicare

Thanks

Well I was told I needed to lose 60lbs in order to get my knee replacement surgery as of last Monday I have 19lbs to go. I hope it goes quickly because my knee pain is getting persistently worse. Even losing the way which was supposed to help some has done no good and am at my whits end with this pain. On top of it I have something called gastroparisis which makes it difficult for me to eat much and when I do holding it down is hard so lately it’s been acting up bad I feel so hungry my stomach cramps up so I eat a little bit sometimes something as simple as a bagel or yogurt and then it’s a different cramp like I’m not going to keep it down between the two my moods are really down and feeling kinda hopeless right now like there’s no end in sight to this hell

i hope the weight loss goes well. have you talked to the doctor about meds like ozempic or phentermine? it could help you make it to the home stretch. i'll be glad when your pain issues lessen or go away

Interesting. It may be a probability situation. Like the small pox vaccination was so effective that it eradicated smallpox in USA at one time. But something like knee surgery could be 50/50. It could help or could not. Do not know til have it. Same for medications. The human body is complicated. I wish it was easier to treat.

Pain is getting pretty bad....even though I've been doing some form of exercise and stretch daily my muscles are so stiff, it's sometimes hard to move. Life is too sedentary and wish I could find more physical activity, there really isn't much in the way of community stuff where I live.
