Lupus and fibromyalgia

Ah yes. I very much understand having a relationship with pain. I also understand how *infuriating* friendly advice can be.

I've had MANY hostile encounters with chiropractors who try to give me advice, when chiropractic care is strictly contraindicated with my condition.

Incidentally, I am a chronic pain doctor.

What do you think of ECT for fibromyalgia?
or medicinal cannabis?
Both are impossible to get in this country, but wondering if it is worth putting effort into finding a way. eg. travelling to another country close-by in Europe.

paaaiiin. can't get enough.
paaaiin. i like it rough.
'cause i'd rather feel pain than nothing at all...

the guy who wrote this did not have a chronic illness. when you're not in constant pain, physical pain seems edgy, even noble.

Sept 20th, 2021.

The doctor can go fuck herself. Even with access to healthcare in the US, you don't really have it because the doctors are so dismissive, so condescending and so uncaring that nothing is investigated. They treat patients like the enemy, like liars... like overdramatic. Trust me, doctor. I wouldn't be coming to you if I had the choice, if I was healthy, if I didn't have chronic illnesses. Good God, I would never go to a doctor again if I had the choice to ignore my goddamn health, but because I want to live and want a good quality of life and yes, am paying a small fortune for your care and attention, I must see you.

I truly apologize for forcing you to spend more than 5 minutes addressing my symptoms/conditions. I am so sorry to inconvenience you by making you do your job. How dare I mention my mental health as well? Who do we think we are? A progressive society with access to the best mental health resources in the world? Hog-fucking-wash, right?

@Dots

I'm sorry you're suffering both physically and mentally, and for the shabby treatment you've received. You deserve much better, as do we all.

My primary care doctor is pretty decent, as is his nurse, but he has been the exception in my 35 years of navigating the BS doctor/insurance merry-go-round.

We are the wealthiest nation on Earth, with the worst healthcare system (in terms of what we Americans spend on it).

i don't know why Americans are under the misconception that doctors show more care in the US because they get paid so well. patient care in the US is abysmal and suffers comparatively to countries with public healthcare.

go you for finding the exception.

just a side note, i can appreciate we are living through a pandemic and resources are spread thin, however, they have been like this as long as I have had to visit them so I cannot use that as an excuse. i do have a very good pain management counselor.. so they exist on my end.

Sorry your doctor is so bad Dots.

If they're going to be completely useless, the least they could do is be nice about it.
Thanks may. I find the crueler people are usually more useless than the kind ones. I've yet to run into a Dr. House who is an asshole but knows his shit.

I've run into some bad doctors before too. I think if they run into a problem that they can't easily solve or understand, they sometimes tend to resent you for it.
