People enjoy inflicting pain on others. Otherwise, movies that depict pain wouldn’t be so popular.
This is a trait of the human brain that we developed over the course of evolution as a means of survival. It isn’t equally pronounced in everyone, but it’s present in all of us. After all, not everyone likes violent movies, right?

Yeah, well...I feel as though I'm not strong enough to adapt or survive in this world anymore. Suppose I never was.

Sadhart I hope your work week is going well.
It's a relief and healing to spend time in nature if you have access to any safe parks, beaches or woodlands. It can be a balm against the pains that people inflict on us. Sf is a safe virtual space. Getting ourselves away from the hate we can feel is part of the relief, because hate is going to damage a person too.

@Gard makes a good point. I'll add that as someone who was married to a man who was completely callous about hurting others, it's deeply damaging to be around that sort for us less violent sort including me.

Best to you @sadhart

Allow yourself some freedom not to adapt to other people.
If someone behaves inappropriately, you can tell them so. Sometimes you might even have to hit them. But often, just your intention and willingness will be enough.
Yes, protecting your personal boundaries is a delicate matter. I don’t know how it will work out for you, but you have to learn how to do it.

This happened in public and the person was a total stranger. What I imagine what would have happened was a bunch of deflecting, loud attitude and her taking out her phone to record and make it seem like I'm the antagonist.

But I can see where you're coming from. All I can say is that I've tried and it's mostly been in vain. That scenario I mentioned is mostly based on things that has actually happened.

I am so sorry you were called a cruel name by a stranger. That is just plain unacceptable and unfair. The world can be a nasty place at times. Hopefully people kinder in the future to you *hug
