One positive feeling you have!

Oh my Goodness... What an AMAZING thread!!! Thank You Puffy!!!

i have to say ditto on SF!

Another positive feeling i have had today has got to be when i sold three of my Nonnakins. Makes me feel more positive about what i am trying to do. As though i have a chance to be successful at it. Also makes me want to get my fingers in gear and make more.

@puffymilk this thread is a coincidence because I was just thinking there should be a thread like this, and here it is all shiny brand new.

My positve feeling was that when I'm taking care of myself like eating right and showing up for my runs and workouts - I can actually socialize without being a scary manster. 😂 I guess it could be labeled a boost in donfidence.

I woke early this morning with an ugly feeling. I felt hopeless and alone. But I took my PRN anxiety meds, made a plan for something I want to do anyway that will hopefully give me the chance to meet some people.

I have to be patient and I have to be disciplined (saving some money), but I’m hopeful now. At least that ugly desperate feeling has faded a bit.

Lol, I forgot to mention the plan: I’m going to buy this

I‘ve wanted a small motorcycle or scooter for a long while, but just fantasized about it. The two wheeled version of this was on my radar before the stroke, but I just found out there’s a 3 wheeled version that’ll make up for my lacking balance.

The LA scooter club publishes the starting point of their rides, and encourages non-members to just show up. Even if I hate them or they hate me or whatever andI I never go back, owning the scooter will still be fun.

I used to go for long drives along the coast, just to kill time and clear my head. I don’t do that anymore because gas is so damned expensive, but it’ll be nice to have a vehicle economical enough To do it again.

I think it's a good idea @Gonz. When you are feeling calm(er) I encourage you to get to a dealership for these things and do a test drive/ride around in their parking lot.

Now that you mention it; you can be pretty funny.

Oh, almost forgot: I had a positive feeling about my work.

The stand up isn’t a hypothetical either; a few years ago I actually did it. After two days awake I thought “I can do that” about comics so I spent the day writing and practicing a short set, then performed it at an open mic the next night. It was all about mental illness and drug abuse and I just generally tried to make the audience uncomfortable. I even mentioned that I was only there because I was having a manic episode. Somehow I won “best of the night” and $10.

It was at a place called “The Garage Behind the Food for Less” and it was, wait for it, a garage in an alley behind a Food for Less. I thought I was gonna get shot or someone was gonna try to sell me heroin.

The jokes were in character, getting onstage was not. Just like now, I was feeling bad about my lack of socializing. I can go weeks or months without talking to anyone but my therapist. Most of the time I’d dip my toe in the water; go to a coffee shop or something, maybe ask a stranger how it’s going. Stand up comedy is really jumping in the deep end.

I wish I felt that kind of confidence all the time. It turns out I can do a lot of the wild shit I usually only fantasize about, I can be the kind of person I wish I was.

Lately I've been coming up with funny one-liners in my head. At least, they are funny to me, lol. This gives me joy. It's not easy to make yourself laugh. I feel like it might be a little abnormal, but it's not hurting anyone so no big deal. It's kind of nice that my head is coming up with fun things for now.

Of course, all jokes are stolen. This goes for jokes that I thought up myself, too, because someone else has invariably written it before. I haven't put too many here because this is a site that tolerates up to R-rated content. A lot of my stuff is decidedly NC-17, or possibly even beyond that line. Then I compare myself to the greats, namely Mitch Hedberg (RIP) and Steven Wright. I'm not at that level, but that's also fine. Remember those old 1990s commercials for Beck's beer with a stereotypical Berliner doing awful stand-up with the tag line, "Germans don't do comedy. We do beer"? I actually liked a lot of those.

If I did pretty much any of the things I fantasize about, I'd probably get arrested. I don't even Google some of the things because I don't want to tell my brain it's cool to go down that road. The thing is, I have an interest in DIY chemistry specifically synthesis based on organic compounds, e.g., take a plant, isolate something, and use that as a precursor thru various reactions. I have no aspirations to be a Walter White, however. More like someone who would end up on a watch list for purchasing a lot of fertilizer... possibly make my own soap, lol.
