therepists and overdoses?

Hey...

I am having real trouble opening up to therapist, mostly bcos i am really embarrassed about being "this way"...she knows last week that i took an overdose (i told her over the phone)....but last night i was at another low point and took another. (i drank, yes DRANK, cough medicine)

how do i tell her?....and what would she do??

Part of her job is keeping things confidential, so she won't tell anyone what you have told her without telling you that she's going to first, unless she believes you to be in real trouble (i.e. you've just told her you're going to hurt yourself badly/end your life, or that you are going to hurt others, and considers either of these to be serious). She should not in any way judge you for anything you tell her, and if she does, you need to find someone new. You don't need to be embarressed about telling her anything (and if she makes you feel that way on purpose, again, find a new one).

As for how to tell her, well, that's always gonna be hard. But just tell her straight out, it should be easier.
