my latest xray shows a minimal pulmonary tuberculosis.. which really worries me.. it is yet to be confirmed if i really have TB.. but i think i really do.. what worries me most is that my family might get it from me too.. this really makes me so stressed.. depressed.. and just generally down.. i'm so embarrassed to have this very contagious disease.. i don't even want to tell other people about it..

it makes me think of just committing suicide so that i don't pass it on to someone else..

As @Walker says, wait for confirmation first. TB can be divided into two categories, latent or active. If it's active, then you could be infectious, however the degree of this would depend on how much your lung is affected, and the level of TB bacterium in your phlegm. However, the TB specialists will be able to advise you on how infectious you could be (if indeed it is active TB) and also on what measures you can take to reduce the risk of infecting other people.

There are well established treatment protocols to effectively deal with TB, be it latent or active. Again to reiterate, advice will be offered on ways to minimise cross-infection, so hang in there, this can be dealt with effectively.

So just try to if you can to be open minded, wait for all the necessary tests and for the results to come back, and then go from there.

Hi Neko - @Ash600 is 100 per cent more qualified than me to give advice on this - but I agree with Walker and Ash - wait until you get the diagnosis and never, ever feel embarrassed. Always here if you want to talk or rant. Huge hugs and let us know how it goes x

thanks..

found out yesterday that it is latent TB.. apparently it is not contagious.. so at least i don't need to worry about passing it on to someone else..

still need to take meds though.. potent ones that can be harmful to my liver.. hopefully nothing else goes wrong..

didn't tell my colleagues about it because it is not contagious anyway.. it'll just make my life at work hellish if they find out about it..

one of my close friends though is worried i might get his ill parents infected.. so i need to keep a bit of distance..

if anything what makes me feel bad is getting singled out and generally people dealing with me differently.. feels like they're grossed out by me.. and worried i'll make them ill..
