Venting Unhealthy Comparing

I try not to be a person that compares one thing to another in order to feel better about the thing.

To say, “things could be worse” is a nuisance.

No need to belittle anyone or anyone’s situation in order to justify pedestalizing (uplifting) oneself, one’s choices, or one’s circumstances.

I work on not getting too upset or invested in conversations with people who feel the need to compare. But the irritant makes it so so so difficult. And in my response they still don’t seem to understand that they should refrain from comparing.

….. just to give context
“It could be worse, instead of working in an office with my pay, I could be stuck working in outdoor construction just to make enough money to live”

Like dude… some people prefer outdoor jobs vs indoor jobs. And if you don’t like outdoor work then duh, the other option is indoor work.
Make it make sense
