‘looksmaxxing’

#1
so this i guess trend has been around for quite some time now. it’s honestly really fucked up because of how much negativity there is to people who don’t care about their body image. i for one was forced into this because of bullying but some people would critique and bully others for not trying to ‘looksmaxx’.

as a person who was incredibly insecure about their body, it feels like shit. i mean honestly just because you try harder than others doesn’t mean you automatically become superior over them it just doesn’t work that way.

they indirectly force the victims to start looksmaxxing and it gets out of hand. the levels people go to to try and be more good looking than others is insane. they take peptides, all sorts of roids, supplements even deliberately smashing their bones to look better.

and the scary thing is the most people that do this are the ones who were pressured into it. once they start it, they feel like ‘if i keep going maybe i’ll be accepted’. what these people dont realise is that bullies will pick on you about something no matter what you do to yourself.

as a victim i really want to help them but they inflate their egos to insurmountable amounts to seem tough but inside they’re suffering and everyone can tell.

i know so many people like this and i cant let them go down this hole any longer. any advice would be really appreciated

They are searching for happiness and there might be little you can do about that, without coming across as trying to take away their pleasure. Yeah, seems they've been heavily influenced and you'd like to nudge them the other direction. Anything that'd get them into nature might wake them up a little, but, I am fairly awful at communication or influencing humans irl, so take that with a grain of salt.

“In the mind there is no absolute, or free, will, but the mind is determined to will this or that by a cause which is also determined by another, and this again by another, and so to infinity." – Spinoza

Perhaps read a bit about thought: Epictetus, Schopenhauer, Diogenes, Spinoza, and others writings on free will and thinking for oneself, etc.

I don't know what happened to the idea of people minding their own damn business. What right does someone have to control what someone else looks like?

I'm sorry this happened to you and that it also is happening to other people.

Is there a support group for this?
