I saw a cabinet + shelf I thought would be nice for my kitchen and scheduled pickup for it. I asked if the cabinet shut all the way beforehand and they said yes. I get there and it has cobwebs and paint splatter and the door didnt shut all the way. I should have said no thank you and that the listing wasn't transparent about the condition but it was so silent and I handed the money over because I'm dumb. I drive away and I realize I have no use for this crap that I don;t want. And that I can't spend 100 on being polite. I message them saying that I felt that the listing wasn;t accurate and while I know its against etiquette I'd like to return it. I even offered 20 for the trouble of dealing with all this.
They must have interpreted my message as asking for both furniture items for 20 total, so they got pissed and said return it and youll get your money back. I returned it and they were clearly pissed but gave me all my money and didnt even keep 20 for themselves which means they really did misunderstand. I left 20 in the cabinet but this person definitely hates my guts all because i didn't just turn it down in the beginning. A plea to other anxious people; Be able to assert yourself in the beginning or be faced with nightmare humililation that make you never want to do anything ever again.
I feel like both of us share the blame. They didn't list any of the damage or the fact that the door doesnt latch and I should have rejected them in the beginning. I don;t think its all my fault, which would be an exaggeration. But even the portion of reponsibility I have for this situation weighs on me heavy. I wish I could tell them all of this is a mistake and misunderstanding but I know its best to let things go and not talk to them anymore.
