Am I the last old lady left on SF?

There isn't a lot of talk under this part of the "Generation Gap." I could use a little help. Last night I was buying g movie tickets on line. I had been at the computer all day and was tired. The theater website was giving me trouble and sent tickets to the wrong film for me and my friends. I tried to cancel them, couldn't get through to the theater- I was just exhausted. I am usually tech-savvy but was
so humiliated. I called and told my friends to go without me. I am afraid that they think I am losing it. Maybe I am. It's terrifying. I used to talk to some people here but they are never around.

Hello @Ivy100

Sorry about the ticket mishap. I don't think you are alone when it comes to computer snafus, so don't berate yourself.

I know there are some older men and women that post pretty regularly here. I am on the cusp myself (56) of senior status, but these days it seems age is just a number..
Oh you are still young. Thanks for the kind words. I was working on my taxes all day and probably should have just gone for a walk before I did anything else. The worst is feeling humiliated by this with a couple my age that are so technophobic they can't use a streaming device or call an Uber. You are nice to try to soothe a crazy old lady. And it was soothing.

Hi @Ivy100

I'm not an old lady, but at 67, I feel like I'm an old man. Like they say with cars, though, it's not the years, but the mileage that counts
I feel old, and modern life reminds me how I've aged, I used to feel I was well-adapted and current, but now I'm not.
Anyway, good luck with technology, I struggle myself.

peace
:)

Sometimes... I wish I was an, "Old Lady!" : ) I'm about the most un-tech savvy person you'd ever come to know~
So, this doesn't sound like a story that anybody familiar with me would find at all--out of the ordinary! Ha. ;)
I'm trying to think if I've ever purchased movie tickets on-line, and I'm almost convinced: that no, I have not! :D
(not even sure IF I'd know how to go about the 'buying of?' process. . .)

Anyway, some of the kindest, sweetest, warmest & most extraordinary human beings & souls, I've ever met, were 'old ladies!'
Now, I suppose there are some exceptions - say, if they weren't that way previously, or for all of their lives, something like that?
And then, they were resistant to such sudden-change.

Or they had great illnesses & afflictions, which were understandably making them--somewhat, ornery.
Usually in these instances though, I am more met with, as opposed to overt face to face audible, disgust.
It's more of the non verbal variety! :)

Looks, glares. Sounds/sighs? Grunts! Maybe. . ; ) I'd be pretty infuriated over my sight as well, in their defense! So, HA~ :-D

p. s. I hope you can find some like minded folks, or individuals, with which to discuss topics of interest & to your liking around
here still! I truly do. Take care, @Ivy100 ! ( ;

It sounds like when I try to call the bank, or the doctors, or my internet provider etc. etc. These companies are totally on the ball with taking your money from you, but when you want any kind of support there' s nobody there to speak to. It's a shame that you feel bad and that these companies don't do in the slightest.

I'm sorry that you got terrified. I understand the feeling related to thinking at times I'm losing it and it occurring more often.....
I'll talk to you Ivy even though I'm not great at it.
And I'm an old lady.

Sometimes a mistake is just a mistake and not related to technology or age. I am not that old and am very tech savvy but I managed to buy a train ticket for the wrong day not that long ago. Nothing quite as annoying as getting to the station to find that not only is your ticket for yesterday but that you now have to pay a premium price to get a new ticket for the right day.

I am 65.

I am going back to college in the Fall and although I am pretty tech savvy, the admissions requirements are making me nuts lol

You are not alone.

And though it pains me to say this, there simply isn't that much chat traffic these days, for whatever reasons.

So glad you got your refund! Keep on keeping on!

I totally understand how that could happen. You were tired and frustrated. I am 72 and still use a flip phone. And struggle with it. I hate computers. Costs too much for Internet access. And I find them totally confusing.

I don't feel like I am adapted to this world anymore either. The technology totally overwhelms me. Not to mention to cost of everything, and all the conflicts in this world of ours. I would love to go back around 30 years and try again.

I like what you said better than the people you quote (although they are amazing)
