Anyone take Estrogen?

I'm hoping to get a few replies but don't expect it. My Physicians assistant prescribed me estrogen this past week. I don't know the exact type until I pick it up at the pharmacy.

I'm actually nervous about taking. When I went in to see her, I actually was honest and told her about the things that annoyed me and were going on in my life. Usually I sit there and just comply wanting to get out of there as fast as possible. But at $400 a pop (insurance covers 2/3) and I had legitimate gripes I figured let me blow off some steam. Plus she told me that menopause is her specialty.

So, I was wondering if anyone has taken estrogen or knows anybody or even knows anybody that has taken this stuff? I know my mother took it with not such good side effects, but that was 40 years ago and she was very sensitive to any medication. Thanks for reading this.

I only know what my mom and grandma mentioned, which was as you said about your mother - side effects made them stop taking it.

It's well known that some foods - in particular fatty fish and cruciferous vegetables are really helpful in that they assist our body's balancing of hormones.

My mother took it, it gave her mood swings and headaches (maybe other side effects, but she spared her son all the details) but nothing she couldn’t handle once she knew it was happening. It wasn’t enough to make her stop (she considered it at first) and the effects lessened a lot as her body got used to it.

Sorry I don’t have a first-hand account and more information, but I thought I’d tell you what I knew.

my doc stop that. needa find the root cause and pattern abt it, estrogen has alot of side effect on me even if all of my hormones are low.
its reaction on dont always work well on everyone yet some can tolerate. if they can tolerate and weigh the pros and cons of it, they are allowed to continue with docs monitoring.

Thank you for mentioning the foods that are helpful seabird. I just hope that by taking them I'm doing the right thing for my body. Hope you're doing as well as possible today.

Thanks Gonz, my mother took it too and I got all the deets, as the kids say. It wasn't good but I'm hoping that with modern day it has improved. I appreciate you answering my post. Hope you are as well as can be.

Thank you for your reply Kitty. I'm going to try for two months and you're right, let's see how my PA and me feel the next time I visit her. I hope you and the kitties are doing fine. *console

My PA upped my dosage of estrogen. I guess she saw and I told her there was a slight improvement in my mood. There doesn't seem to be any adverse side effects.
