Attention Deficit Disorder

Hello everyone,

Maybe some of you remember me but probably most of you don't know (or don't remember) me. I certainly remember many of you. Used to post here but for different reasons decided to stop posting here.

I need some advice or information related to ADD diagnosis. Long story short never thought I could fall into the ADD spectrum but someone I talked online to (lets say someone professional) suggested I could and recommended me to see e professional irl.
Considering the healthcare system (especially mental healthcare) isn't quite the best ever in my country I think it would be better if I could see a professional in a UK (or Italy). Thing is I haven't talked with anyone irl about this. Not even my family.
So I would like to know in advance about the costs of all of it.
Like how many session it may take?
What could the costs of those sessions be?

Of course, I understand that could vary but still an estimation would be great... or at some link where I can find some information related to all that.

Thank you in advance and wish all of you a nice and peaceful weekend.

I don't know what the costs would be, but it would probably be a significant amount because you'd be paying out of pocket to get diagnosed and you'd also have travel expenses.

There's no guarantee that you'd actually get an ADD diagnosis. Also, a diagnosis probably wouldn't do much for you, except allow you to get an ADD drug like Ritalin.

I frequently (incessantly?) recommend trying traditional Chinese medicine for most chronic conditions, and this case is no exception. So my advice would be to skip the process of getting an ADD diagnosis, unless you've got a lot of money that you don't mind spending on this. Even with a formal ADD diagnosis, I think TCM is still a much better option to treat this than any drug that you might be prescribed.

I did a quick search for articles and research on the subject, here's the results:

The search results indicated that Chinese medicine works well for treating ADD. Herbal medicine may be the cheapest option, especially since there seem to be patent medicines (premade herbal pills) that can treat this.

There's more info generally about Chinese medicine here:

By ADD I presume you mean attention deficit disorder. In the UK the H is usually included so ADHD. You can get a test here either face to face or over video for between £600-£1000. However, most mental health is done through our NHS so it might be that these private providers are more likely to diagnose positively as that generates the most money for them. If you do go with a UK provider then make sure you are assessed by a GMC registered psychiatrist, that doesn’t guarantee good treatment but it is some protection.

Hello May71. How are you?
As you pointed out, it is a significant amount and no guarantee, so I'm considering every option right now. Thanks for the links and the information. :)
