One of my favorite computer games as a kid was a Sierra game called Ecoquest where you meet a talking dolphin and help clean up pollution in the dolphins' kingdom. Since I didn't have many friends I would fantasize about being the player character and going on adventures with the dolphin. One day years later I tried to find out what happened to the game's cast and I found the dolphin was voiced by Brittany Benov who was a child actress in Fresno, California. She had bipolar depression and ended up dying in her 20s when she overdosed on drugs in the apartment of a stranger she had just met. When I found this out it honestly sent me into a tailspin, even though I never met her in person. It feels like she was still part of my childhood and she did a good job voicing that character, so her voice has always been burned into my head. I care about the environment a lot and that game helped develop those interests, and I guess I always wished I could have met her so I could tell her that, so it was really hard finding out she was gone. I also feel from reading her story that she and I had a lot of the same issues as we both struggled with issues at home and personal relationships, so I feel like we could really have been friends if we'd met.

I'm sorry that you never got to meet her. It's sad that she's gone.

It sounds like you mostly posted to talk about how you feel about this, but I included a spoiler if you're interested.
I think there are other ways to express your gratitude to and affection for her. There are other people who are probably a lot like her that you could be kind to or help or meet. You could also do something for the environment like planting trees in her honor.
