Cancelled Spirometry test due to x-ray results

Hey, I hope someone has some experience in this area and can help me with this?

My brother had a chest x-ray last week after discovering he has some problems with his liver, he was supposed to have a Spirometry test today but the nurse told him the test was cancelled as the doctor had seen something on his x-ray, they've asked him to go back in to see the doctor tomorrow.

Does anybody have any idea why something they've seen on his x-ray would cause them to cancel this test?

Thank you in advance

Worried sick

Hi @Pennylane-
I can understand how worrying this can be,and also frustrating with having to wait for some answers.
There could be a variety of reasons why they called the spirometry test, and it's hard to speculate on what might have been seen on the x-ray. It must be nerve wracking not knowing, and it would naturally have been a bit more helpful if the nurses or the doctor could have given you more information.

However, maybe instead of trying to second guess what could be the cause behind this, if you can, try to remain as calm, focused and openminded as possible until your brother goes back for his appointment tomorrow where there'll probably be a better picture of what's going on and then act from there in the best interests of your brother.

Thoughts go with you and your brother.

Take care.

Thanks Ash, yes you're right. I just couldn't understand why they didn't just give him the test anyway, it seems in cancelling it, they've just worried him and in turn worried me more.
My whole family on my Dad's side that have died have died of lung cancer, my Nan, and three of my Dad's brothers, hence it's always been a dark shadow

They really could have handled it better, the medical team, putting undue stress on you and your brother.
So sorry to hear that it runs in your family, just wanted to offer my best wishes for tomorrow.

Thank you for your best wishes, you were right there's nothing anyone can do until tomorrow, I just didn't want to voice my concerns to him

That's understandable not wanting to voice your concerns to him as it could only add to the tension he must be under. However, at least it's good that you can use this place as an outlet for you to pour out your concerns, as it's obviously not good to allow your worries to churn up inside of you.
I do hope talking about it here may have offered at least some small modicum of comfort, Penny.

Hey, my bro has been booked in for blood tests and further x-rays, he was quite vague and I didn't want to push it, I guess he'll open up when he's ready
