Caring for myself

#1
My favourite tv show is like a group of friends for me. I love them for several reasons.
They've been there for me through the pandemic, through new jobs, through loosing friends. I could rely on it. I learned a lot from them.
Normally it would go back on air in September but it got pushed due to the strike. Mabye it will start in January, maybe it will get pushed to September '24.
I fully support the strikes. And I feel so ashamed for missing them. I feel really bad a lot. I don't want to talk to people about it because "it's just a tv show".
But it's so hard to just not know how long it will keep going on. (And I know that there are people out of work because of it. I'm very aware of it and trust me, there's a lot of shame.)
There's so much insecurity in this world.
I'm exhausted. How can I care for and be nice to myself during this?
Also open for just support messages. I guess I need both support and advice?
I just feel pretty burned out.

It's Ok, shows are as real to our brains as reality itself, I have experienced genuine grief over a character being killed off, or indeed after a show has been cancelled. You're entitled to feel as you feel. Could you rewatch the existing shows? Is there any fan fiction about the show you could read (or write?). Is there a reddit or forum of fellow fans? Don't know if this any use, just thinking off the top of my head! You can get through this!

This is a good place for support. On advice I can be lacking especially since so much of that will depend on a person's personality and what may please them to do or see. I would seek out things I may have an inkling that I may like then explore those options.

I'll just try making a bunch of suggestions, and hopefully there'll be at least one thing that helps, or the suggestions will lead to further discussion that leads to something that helps.

1. Reruns. You've probably already thought of that one. A public library may have a collection of them that you can check out.

2. Fan forums. Other folks who love the show may also be going through a tough time without the show, and talking to other people that share an interest with you might help.

3. Find another show to take interest in.

4. Get the advice of a librarian about books to read or shows to watch.

5. Play video games or board games that you can play against a computer

6. Follow a televised sport

7. Learn how to fly a quadcopter or rc plane

8. The ultimate thing would be to find a way to direct your time and energy into something that would create meaning or value in your life rather than simply be a distraction. Learning (and maintaining) a meditation practice would fit in that category, but there might be other things too.

9. Pursue an academic degree
