Indoor cardio boring for you? At least it was for me but I found something that has made a huge difference so I thought I'd share as it may help someone else.

There is a program called Zwift and for instance if you are at home on the exercise bike or treadmill, having the scenery of running or cycling forwards into lovely nature trails takes the boredom out of it, I find it helps anxiety too, so i'm killing 2 birds with the one stone. I'm not a tech person so I personally don't use Zwift but this is the exact same thing here;

Hopefully it will give someone that push they need to enjoy exericse instead of just going through the motions.

I’ve found that watching a series on TV that keeps my interest helps me not hate doing indoor cardio. Before I know it the hour long show is done and I haven’t really noticed the boring workout.
I’ll have to check this out (I’m running out of shows to watch), thanks for the tip.

Oh, that's a neat idea Petal!

I hate cardio machines, haha. Luckily I live in a place where I can run outside most days of the year.

The key thing for me is always going right after work. I bring my clothes to change into if I'm planning a run, or have the gym bag in the front seat of my car waiting for me if I am going to a class. If I go home first, I won't leave again.

Looking forward to reading all the tips. I'm sure to need them this year. Plan on weight loss 1kg a month. Starting with walking 20 mins twice a week. Still not signed off by doctor to use my treadmill. So I purchased I really good pair of sneakers for my walks.

@sinking_ship Keep up the cardio - your body will thank you, its good to keep a gym bag with you, if you decide to go then its there and it probably gives you more motivation to go, i'm glad you liked my tip :)

@Fleurise I hope you get the go ahead from your doctor to use the treadmill. That was a good idea, new sneakers for walking. Play some music while walking, it really makes it less boring, just google exercise music!!

Good luck to both of you with ye're goals.

I always tend to listen to a funny podcast, keeps me humoured whilst running. It's so much easier listening to something, the time seems to pass much quicker than when I'm focusing on just running.

Couch 2 5k helps too, partly because it builds the pace slowly but also I can see the countdown. It helps if I can look at the timer and be like "Holy cow, it's been 30 seconds already?" or "Just gotta push myself for 10 more seconds."

Love this thread, so lovely :)

Sending hugs

Em
