Hi, I am now 40 and life hasn't turned out anything like I thought it would and am now directionless and just trying to get through the day and looking down the road for another 50 years stuck in this existence. Any tips? Any life experience of this? Not sure how to cope with all the time I have and not wanting to be here, just existing thanks x.

Hello, so forward looking is always troublesome. Stay where you at and see where it takes you instead of projecting dispair for next 50 years. Chill in the moment, right now, by any means and see where it takes ya. Wishing you best.

I can relate to you. I feel like that all the time. i try to distract my mind from thinking about it. Like doing little hobbies that take your mind off things like exercising, reading, and being with family. I would think in the present and try not to think about the future. I don’t if that helps but wishing u the best.

So I'm exactly in the same place, because I will be 40 soon and still no idea of what I want to do in life and feel like I have no real purpose. I would say just do the things you enjoy most in life. It's easy to look forward and say the future might be bad if you are used to that, but there's no way to know that for sure. Focus on things that make you happy, on what you have accomplished, and don't beat yourself up over what you haven't done.

I have trouble with this a lot. I frequently feel like a failure for what seems to be a whole waste of my 20s and like I have nothing to show for in my life. I am doing a lot better than then but I still mourn the loss of what I never had. This time of year doesn’t help either plus a predictable bipolar low at this time of year.
