Fashion, makeup, shopping hauls and other Shallow Stuff <3

Ironically we ARE allowed to wear jeans as long as they don't have rips/holes. I usually wear jeans or white pants in summer.

For some reason I really love tropical prints although I live in Canada. I think I have an inner wish to be Hawaiian.
I hear you! I love beach dresses but only wear them at home in summer cos they are so comfy and make me feel better

Sorry my pic was so small, I am not exactly sure how to get a bigger version. It's a smart top with a cowl neck (I love those necklines as they feel easy to wear) and it fits my body! The sequins and beading on the shoulders are a problem though - in terms of washing.
So, today I wore it with fitted jeans and a similar colour cardigan (I don't like bare arms, but need my armpits free due to hot flushes). It looked nice. When I put on my 'nude' ankle boots it all looked really lovely.
It felt very strange! :D

@A_J_R on my lordy, that looks such a cushty dress!
@Lady Wolfshead I have been viewing Shein - they have some lovely stuff there. What is the sizing like, I am 5 foot tall (on a good day) lol
I know you asked Lady Wolfshead, but I was reading about Shein and my advice is what I got from an online fashion blogger who said basically only buy the clothes with lots of reviews (some outfits have thousands of reviews). A lot of the women post height, weight and measurements as well as photos. It will help you figure it out. Their sizing is dicey. It can be hit and miss, but the reviews are really helpful. Have fun!

I recommend going 1 size up in most things, but at the top of the reviews is a "true to size" graph that shows what % of people found the size accurate, too large or too small. The overall rating on things tends to be really high and I think Shein manages to milk positive reviews in a couple of ways, like you can't review something you are returning (I haven't found a way anyway). But individual reviews can be helpful\

I had to return 3 things from my latest Shein haul due to quality issues (unraveling thread, assymetrical sewing). Haven't had that issue before but make sure you keep the packaging/slip as they require it for a return.

They do also post the measurements for each item and that can be helpful.

I find the size guides to be somewhat misleading sometimes. I always use the reviews a supplement.
I find that the most helpful is the graph that shows % of users who thought the item was true to size, big or small. Unfortunately with new items they don't always have those yet, so I go by the measurements. I size up if it looks fitted. Looser looking items I get my regular size.

Yes, that's a great help too.

And thank you for the code, btw! Sorry, meant to say that.

Truthfully I'm a bit disappointed in Shein at the moment due to the poor quality control on the items I received last week. That beautiful blouse I bought with the polka dot/flower pattern was cut differently than the photo, and the flower portion was almost under my arm. I did send them photos. If the return process works, I may try them again since I haven't had these issues in previous orders.

I got a few Xmas presents from them that had to go back. It's cheap stuff, so I'm wary when I order, but a lot of the time, I've been quite happy. So, it's sort of worth it to me. I got this great empire waist mini-dress a while back and it's perfect for concerts. I get a lot of use out of what works.

OK, so I've been looking a lot at stuff online, and doing my best to curb my retail therapy, so I haven't bought anything I"ve posted or looked at in general.

Until today. This was only $20. It's really my style. I got it on ModCloth. I don't make very much $$ right now, but I've been doing side work, and have saved a little. I feel so horrible today, so I bought it. And it's so me.

My dress showed up. It's a little big (I read in the reviews it ran large, so I went down a size... still a little big!), but it looked good with a belt, and I don't think I'll need it tailored. It's so very pretty and I'm glad I bought it!

I'm looking at belts right now. I think I found a nice affordable one that will look nice with this!

Oh lovely! Let us know when the belt comes and how it looks with the dress? I would never have thought of a belt with it - why???? *dunno
