Right now I'm feeling pretty lonely and depressed right now. I hardly have anyone to talk too. I tried reaching out on Reddit to try to find some friends and it's no use. Everyone who contacted me ghosted me or got perverted on me. It's really hard trying to find friends in my area due to my age since I'm 43 years old and I don't drink or party. It seems like that's what people do in this town. Another issue I have is taking care of myself. I hardly take care of myself. I have to be reminded to wash up, brush my teeth, brush my hair even. This is how low my depression has gotten. I hardly got any sleep at night which is also a problem I'm having. I keep waking up in the middle of the night. I have to talk to my doctor and tell my doctor to put me on a sleep medication. I'm glad I'm finally posting on here because I hardly post on Forums anymore and I'm glad I decided to post on here to ask for help.

I'm sorry things are so bad.

It's hard to find people who have the right motivations, just in general. It also generally gets hard to make new friends as you get older.
I think you could find a church group, but that's not going to work if you don't click with their beliefs. Maybe a meditation or yoga group? I wonder if you could even be part of activities for an alcohol or drug recovery group, even though you're not a recovering addict.

Those are the only groups that I can think of that wouldn't include drugs or alcohol in social activities. If you have some particular interest or hobby, you might be able to find a group that meets socially and that at least doesn't require or emphasize alcohol or drugs.
Another issue I have is taking care of myself
It's like that when you're depressed. It's not fun.
I keep waking up in the middle of the night
Certain antidepressants may help with sleep. I think at least some and maybe all medications that are specifically for sleep are problematic, that is you become dependent on them.

There are some self-treatment and alternative treatment methods that might be helpful. These links have some info:

Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture, World's Second Largest Medical System

Self-Treatment and Miscellaneous

Specific Info for Insomnia

I hope something can help.

Sending hugs if you would like hugs

Hello @BlueHealingHeart. Thank you for sharing what's going on. Sorry to hear life is so difficult. Depression sure doesn't make ot easier. When im feeling very down, I'll set a timer for 15 minutes to clean or take a shower. If I cant do for 15 I'll set it for 5 at a time. Not sure if this would help you, but thought I'd give it a mention.

Also, like @may71 mentioned. A church group may help ease loneliness. I went to a non denominational church last Sunday for the first time and they were super friendly. There were even opportunities to get involved in various parts of the church. Right now, I'm not sure if I'll go back because of religious beliefs, but I recommend for socializing and spiritual uplifting.

How are you feeling today? Any plans for the weekend? Please pm me if you ever want to. *console

Welcome @BlueHealingHeart !
Loneliness is the standard. It is easy to have "buddies" or superficial contact. I know what it means not to take care of your health and appearance - but this will change, it's temporary, trust me on that one. I can only tell you what helped me - sport, walking, and often several hours per day... I do not need useless contact any longer.

Anyway - here you will find contact and people who understand, with the same problems.
