This past mother's day was the first without my mom. I dreaded that day as it qas approaching. It was as hard as I thought it would be. Just to not be able to make that phone call, buy that gift, go and spend time was extremely painful. If someone happens to read this post, and it's been said forever but please don't take your loved one's for granted. Especially a parent because once they're gone, they're gone. No matter how much they drive you crazy, just cherish them. Please!!

i'm sorry for your loss, it is the natural order of things people get married have children raise them (with good morals) then they are adults and then we notice we are old. then we lose them and I know how you feel when you lose a parent, it rips a part out of you. but try to think if she had a good life, good kids , and some happiness. I know it hurts now but try to celebrate your parents life not their passing. I've always said don't mourn a life well lived. I keep telling this to my kids just in case. it sounds like she was a wonderful mother and i'm glad you had the years to get to know and love her. mike

Four years after my mother died, I was on the escalator in a department store. Passed a sign that said, “Mother’s Day...What are you giving her this year?” I felt panicked, I hadn’t gotten anything yet. And then in an instant, remembered I didn’t “need” to. It was a sad moment. I am sorry for your loss, @klc71.
