I got referred out to GI at my PCP appt today. She put me on zofran in hopes to tame the nausea/vomiting. I feel so sick all the time. Ugh. Frustrated. GI likely won't be able to see me for 6-8 weeks minimum. They're sposed to call in the next 2 weeks or so to schedule. Then they'll likely want a gastric emptying test. Gastroparesis or dumping syndrome, we don't know which, is suspected. Ugh. I'm fed up with all of this and feel alone because idk anyone with experience with this stuff.

I'm sorry that you're going through this and that it will take so long to see the GI.

You might want to try eating some soupy brown rice. Squeezing some ginger juice into some warm water might be worth a try too.

I hope things will get better soon.

I did a quick search for Gastroparesis support groups, there are multiple groups with websites and on social media. I don't endorse any of them, as I haven't investigated fully, but it seems there are options there.

Feeling alone with medical issues is such a problem. Unfortunately you are correct in how long it takes to see a specialist. Then there are tests, etc. Daunting. My heart goes out to you.

It's frustrating. When I was in peds, it took maybe 4 weeks to get in if it was something that was affecting you like now.

I've tried ginger. Already been doing the bland foods. The zofran seems to be helping a little.

That's good :)

According to one of my books there's supposed to be something specific about well cooked brown rice that is supposed to help with nausea and vomiting, though I've never tried it personally.

Is this something that happens during the Summer in particular, or does it happen all the time?

Interesting

It used to be an intermittent thing but lately its been almost constant. My cardiologist did run IV fluids on Thursday and wants them done regularly for a little while to try to get me fully rehydrated.
