Has anyone tried acupuncture in Berkeley?

#1
I’ve been thinking about trying acupuncture for the first time, but I’m not really sure what to expect. I’ve heard very different opinions about it, so I’d rather hear from people who have actually had sessions in the area.

For those who have tried acupuncture Berkeley CA, how was your experience? Did you go for pain, stress, sleep, or something else? I’m also wondering how many sessions you needed before noticing any changes and whether you felt comfortable with the practitioner.

Would appreciate honest experiences, including things you liked or didn’t like.

I didn't have much interest in acupuncture, but someone said it cured their allergy to cats.. which makes me wonder if it can cure hay fever.. (which isn't an issue for me at the moment but will be next spring)

I was not in Berkley, but I was abruptly discontinued on Lexapro. At the time medical pros thought that there was no SSRI discontinuation syndrome. There was and it is horrid. Part of that was the migraines (funny that now folks suffering from migraines are sometimes given SSRIs as a preventative. Apparently there's a correlation). I saw an acupuncturist on the advice of someone I trust. It did help with the migraines. Being pain free after weeks on end of unrelenting agony felt so good I kept going back. I didn't care how it worked. I just wanted to feel better, and acupuncture helped where nothing else did. I eventually tapered off though when I got on a better medication.

Later on, I thought about it, and I haven't validated this but it felt a lot like I was getting an endorphin release due to the needles. I know what an endorphin rush, e.g., runner's high or when I get the 5/5 spice level on curry or noodles.
