Have you lost a loved one to suicide?

#22
I've lost a lot of people. I lost 10 people in between 2006-08. My uncle/Second father had a sudden heart attack in July 2007 and my best friend was killed in a hit and run accident during February of the same year. I've lost a couple of friends to cancer, some to suicide and another to a drugs overdose.

I only lost my mother to suicide... But, I'm sure I had other long time friends who committed suicide because they felt alone or unwanted... :(

Sometimes it is really hard, but I agree that she would want you to live your life. I'm sure she wants you to be a success and to have a good life.

I know but some nights I feel it difficult :( because I really do miss my mother... However, I've been making it this far with support :) which is making me happier I suppose. Loosing someone to suicide is tough - and that's why were called survivors of suicide..

It is really hard, like I blame myself for stepfather's death...even though I had nothing to do with it, I'll just put it on myself. But it's not your fault either so you need to remember that. I guess it gets easier with time, you still miss the person but I think it becomes less difficult.

Agreed, I find it difficult at times... It's been 7 years sense she committed suicide and I still have a difficult time. I'm sorry to hear about your step dad :( I try to remember that it's not my fault because she took her life for her own reasons...

After the torture of my husband's suicide and all these years, it is destroying me. I have a real death wish, not because I miss him but because he robbed me and left me in financial ruination.

Yes, technically a 3rd cousin, but we were almost the same age. He was a multi-instrumentalist in a country-gospel band, always smiling, with a joke, and I could never tell him a joke, because he already knew the punchlines. All of them. Intelligent and gentle.

His dad had been a cancer survivor, and it returned, but I don't think he had the will to fight anymore, and died barely a year after his son did.

Hi All
I have just found this site as I am struggling to come to terms with losing my beloved nephew to suicide in February.
I am finding it so hard to understand, he was just 29 years old, had a huge talent as a singer and had a beautiful 7 month old son whom he adored and he has just gone and left him.
I'm totally devasted as I just cant understand why he didn't try to get help or to speak to someone
