How Are You Feeling Right Now?

Anxiety and suicidal ideation were so strong today. I keep having these moments where I just break down in tears. Then I hate myself because I really thought I was getting a leg up on all of this.
I know the feeling. I am sorry to see you're hating yourself over this. I endorse what @JanisSPK mentioned. I get really down on myself too, but lately I'm trying out resisting that habit, as in being patient with my progress, which has ups and downs to it as a feature of our human condition. I do understand that feeling and I hope this doesn't come across as telling you that what you are feeling is wrong in some way. You feel how you feel. The great thing about that is that feelings constantly change, meaning if it's shitty now, it won't be for long. Of course the same works for bliss, but who said it's a good idea to be blissed out all the time?

There is a saying that is scientifically false but it says that, "Pain is weakness leaving the body." However, I've discussed my crying jags with my therapist many times, and eventually learned that simply letting it out is the best way to handle it. In other words, I prefer, "Tears are (emotional) pain leaving the body." It was overwhelming to do this at first. I was afraid to cry because I felt like it would cause a emotional dam to burst in my mind and I would never stop crying. However, constricting emotionally against tears is actually what prolongs a crying jag. I noticed that I would tighten my whole body up when I felt tears on the way. When I can remember to, I just let it out without judgement; it's neither bad nor good, but no matter what it's got to happen.

When I'm not resisting, then I do this thing where it's like huge crying (screaming, sobbing, sticking my face in a pillow to avoid a noise complaint from the neighbors) for 15 minutes at most, then there is a calm phase, followed by another emotional release, and so on until it's done. I've found I feel far better after that, albeit frequently physically spent. I've known quite a few babies in my large extended family and that is similar to how they cry. I figure it's probably instinctive, then. Of course, pooping oneself is not instinctual, so maybe I'm overgeneralizing, lol.

BTW, I want to stop short of suggesting that this is a good idea for you. Only you out of the population of SF really know what's going on with you and what you need vs your capabilities. It's more like a description of how I'm working with this same thing inside me. *hug

I feel so lonely. I miss my kitty.

I feel like I am frantic inside. I'm not sure how to explain that one. Like I've slept enough in the last 24 hours, but I have this combination tired + frantic in my brain, so I can't really rest.

Does that make sense to anyone?
Makes perfect sense to me. Grief is ridiculously unpredictable and varied among individuals. I probably had every emotion on that entire circular emotion names chart, to varying degrees with no rhyme or reason. Whatever your body is doing is what needs to happen, IMHO, even if you feel very restless and anxious. I'm not sure if this helps, but that feeling of restlessness ("tired and wired") you describe above frequently affects me. It takes far less than a profound loss to put me in that condition.

Update: I've repeated mr. @may71 due to his comment being posted right before mine.

Yes it makes complete sense to me too.

For me it's one of the worst feelings, sort of a mental and emotional nausea, the end of which I can never seem to control.

I am sorry, Angie, it is a terrible thing to be lonely.

Thank everyone for your replies. For context, I feel I let myself down as a whole. There was a family function this weekend. I have avoided these gatherings now for quite some time to avoid being triggered by an abusive family member, knowing they and their counterpart would be there as always. I have missed out because of these people for too long now. I wanted to show up for me. I owe it to myself. I promised myself I would, and I thought I had gotten to a place where I was mentally strong enough. The day came, and all I could hear over and over in my head was this person screaming at me, "You're the problem". Needless to say, I never made it to the event.

It absolutely does make sense. Your cat was your pal, companion and family. Perfectly understandable to feel such a loss from your life.

I think crying is a good release of emotion. I have felt like you and the embarrassing part was that I'd break down in public. I hope you can continue to go thru what may be a healing process. Please be gentle with yourself @Harmony. *console

It makes a lot of sense to me too. In fact I am very familiar with this tired wired state. I don't quite know what it's like to get sufficient sleep any more, but I was awake for about 48 hours in the week, I was almost ready to collapse but was still standing frantically researching medical literature for solutions, up to an hour before I finally collapsed into bed. Also often get it in bed - totally exhausted but my mind opens up a multi-track commentary on every issue I have that needs solving...... Probably a bit different but a similar feeling. I hope it calms down for you soon.

I’m really bothered by intrusive thoughts today. I don’t want to kms for any rational reason, but I’m starting to feel like it may be the only way to get relief from my way too hyperactive brain. 🫤
Sorry it's this way for you. I'm sure it's different for me, but I do find that the combination of the real issues I have, combined with how my mind works (can track multiple threads at all times, never stops thinking) is a form of torture. I could have all the issues I have and just watch a show and forget about them if I didnt have a brain like this. Of course when the suffering/issues are very bad, this ends up with part of the endless streams of solutions my mind is generating starting to include the KMS option, simply as a practical solution to make all this mental and other bullshit stop.

Just got stressed again. It's happened again. Did a few things this morning, pottering about trying to relax. Went to get my phone off the coffee table and was not there. Cue panicked search of the house including bins, under the sofa, cupboards, fridge, freezer, windowsill, back of television. Under cushions. Then thought where haven't I looked so far? And saw my laptop sleeve/pocket thing on the sofa. Tipped it up and the phone fell out. Now my brain thinks my phone is a laptop and puts in in a huge laptop case for safekeeping. I am becoming scatterbrained.

Losing control of reality i cannot tell what's real or not real anymore...
I often feel like that. I’ve spent a significant amount of time trying to find out how to determine what is real, like objectively true.

The more time I spend on this project, the more skeptical I become about the idea of reality in the first place. (Kind of joking, kind of wry resignation).

PS - I’m not trying to minimize the very real distress induced by perception of derealization. More like trying to rationalize the fact that it’s impossible to solve.

Somewhat angry at whoever stole my earbuds when I was at the hotel last month. If they need to steal then I also feel sorry for them. Anyway, end result at the moment is I'm sad about it. From now on I'll be keeping them clipped into the inner pocket of my running vest.

Lame! People who steal earbuds have got to have something missing from their thought process. Like if someone wants to stick something in their ear that has spent literally hours per week in my ears, since they were new, ick. Maybe they imagined selling them, but the market for used earbuds must also be populated with people who lack a healthy respect for hygiene.

I hate buying new earbuds, too.
