I plan not to follow the Winter Olympics in Beijing. This is because of the many abhorrent things the Chinese government has done. I'm not sure if I would be allowed to attempt to catalog all of the massive human rights abuses that the Chinese government is responsible for here, but China is rightly considered by many to be the world's worst human rights abuser.

On another note, the movie Kundun, about the life of the Dalai Lama can be seen for free on youtube. It might also be available from a public library. Sadly, its release in theaters was blocked by China.

Tell me a weather story
We got blasted pretty bad. 18-30 inches of snow in many places. Wind gusts up to 50mph and -10F wind chill.

My coworker got a flat, but was able to get to work. He couldn't change it because his jack didn't work, and road services weren't going out in the storm. He wanted me to come help him change his tire, but I thought it was a bad idea for anyone to be on the roads during the storm.

Thank you for the tag and opening the cafe today:)
I'm in southeast Texas, front just blew in during the night and we are at 38 right now, feels like 30, with rain, sleet and hard freeze on the way by tonight. Lots of tension around, many remembering last February's freeze fiasco here when much of Texas lost power for days.
Perfect weather day....spring wildflower time and fall with the leaves turning and temps in the 60's. Blue skies and puffy white clouds.
I was in Beijing once, that was more than enough for me for a lifetime. I'm with May and will not be interested in the Olympics this year.
Be safe and well everyone.

Thank you for the tag. Not really sure what I'm doing here as only just joined.

Weather here (northern England) rather blowy but at least the gales have eased.. Not had much snow at all this year.
Perfect weather, sunny but not hot, warm enough to dry clothes outside.
As for the games.. No not for me, give me a good documentary on the tv

hey @FlamingoWrangler great cafe and thanks for the tag!
I live in the northern part of the Midwest united states, while we get a bit of snow, it often gets too cold for it, and just falls from the trees instead.
A few years ago i had skidded off the road and plowed into a snow bank, getting my car stuck. As I was calling someone to bring a shovel, I looked up and like five or six farmers had materialized and dug me out in no time at all. That was really cool.
I don't like sports at all, played em a lot as a kid but only to get away from home lol.
Doing ok i guess, nothing new.
Hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Man, been a while since i did one of these, what a fun habit to return to. :D

Well, i live in the UK, so our weather is pretty tame by most standards. Most of what we have to deal with is torrential rain at times, and the flooding that comes with it. So the most exciting stories i have are probably things like the time i looked out into the field out front, and it had turned into a series of islands separated by a new stream that had been created because the flooding got so bad, with each island hosting its own little collection of bedraggled sheep.

I do have a cute weather story featuring my grandparents' dog, Jess though, although i always felt bad for her at the time. See, she was a Doberman cross, which you would think would make her kind of aggressive, but she was actually the sweetest, most mild-mannered dog you could ever hope to meet. This is her:

She was, however, very easily scared. And so every time there were fireworks in the neighbourhood, or a thunder storm, she would walk over to the door to my grandfather's office and wait there, and after a few times we knew exactly why. She was waiting for one of us to come open the door so she could go in there and hide under my grandfather's desk. As i say, i always felt so bad for her, but the sight of her sitting there under the desk, staring up at you with those huge eyes was the sweetest thing you could imagine. So usually i would go over and sit with her for a while, gently petting her and reassuring her to help her feel safer.

Poor sheep. I wish they had a sheep shed to hang out in instead.

Dogs are often very scared of loud noises. I think it's because their hearing is so sensitive. I once had a Yorkie who was like that. One time I put a couple drops of mineral oil in her ears during a thunderstorm, which I think temporarily makes a dog's hearing less sensitive. She was very grateful.

I'm not sure if I should be envious or not. I'd love massive amounts of snow but maybe only for a couple of days.
Snow is wonderful if you don't have to drive in it, shovel it, or have your electric power knocked out by it. Snow forts, snow men, snow angels, snowball fights, and snow days off from school are wonderful for children. Skiing and sledding can be nice too. Snow covered landscapes and snowy trees can be beautiful.

I’m in the north of the U.K and it’s been cold and windy here over the past week or so.
My perfect weather day is warm and sunny but not too hot with a nice cool breeze in the air.
When I was in the girl guides, our troop went camping and the weather was horrible. One night there was a thunderstorm and we were in one of those old fashioned tents with no zips or anything like that (I think the “doors” tied together or were secured with Velcro), when all of a sudden, a sheep sticks it’s head through the tent flaps and we all just started screaming. It was both terrifying and hilarious because the sheep looked just as confused as we did :D

I’m not really a follower of the Winter Olympics but I would watch the figure skating if I was flicking through the channels and I stumbled upon it. I kind of like curling as well, there’s something therapeutic about that little brushing motion :D
What’s new? What’s happening? Updates? Anything you want to talk about? Are you ok?
These past few months have been full of revelations for me, I feel like I’m starting to get answers for things that I have been struggling with for pretty much all of my life. I’m hoping to be able to become more independent with help and support. Also, not very interesting but I’ve been hearing good things about noise reducing ear plugs so I’ve ordered some to see if they can help with my over sensitivity to noise. I’m always wishing I had some sort of remote control to lower the volume of the world but no such thing has been invented yet :D
