Yes, it was April 1, 1997, my 29th..I spent it with my four best friends in Costa Rica. That was also the day that comet Hale-Bopp made its closest approach to Earth. We had a birthday dinner on the veranda of a seaside resort, with a clear view of the comet, framed by a clear, dark sky and more stars than I've ever seen in my life (we were in a remote location and the light pollution was virtually nil).
It was a sublime evening, one of many that I wish I could have bottled and put on a Memory Shelf..

I have lots of good birthday experiences but one was a time when my ex, daughter, and me went camping with my sister and her family. (My bday is in August). The kids didn't like a single thing that the parents brought but the icing on the cake (pun intended) was when my sister produced a homemade carrot birthday cake. The kids were so annoyed that anyone would waste a cake on carrots that they buried their slices! I loved the cake.

Thanks for tagging me Mato. To answer your question, I had one birthday celebration that made me truly happy and makes me smile each time I think of it. It really touched my heart like nothing else ever did. I worked as a manager in an establishment that was open to the public. I had a staff of many whi worked there. Two young girls working there instigated a surprise party right there in the lobby that involved putting a cake with loads of icing in my face. Can't describe the good emotions in it but I guess that all the icing is to hide the little tears of joy that this unemotional extraterrestrial shed. 😊
