We did some rearranging and the plant was in a fairly similar place and did well for weeks but then suddenly its leaves started curling and dying. soon it dwindled to just a couple live leaves and I was sadly going to give up on it. I suspect that Kitty decided it was a nice spot to pee. She has been spotted acting kind of mischievously amongst the plants on several occasions so it is a possibility!
I decided to rescue the plant. I took it out on the porch and washed off all the soil and put the two living pieces in new soil in new pots. then It continued to struggle with a couple leaves at a time at most which always still curled and died and at times no leaves at all. finally the leaves began to not curl - once i kept the soil evenly and constantly moist but not wet or dry. now it seems as if they are coming back to life. I took these pictures a few days ago and already now, they have more leaves. oh yeah, the chips of broken pot stuck in the earth are to keep kitty out! I think they will flourish once again!
and me too and thanks for the smile and also remember you don’t have to question your sanity and will to live because that cat will eventually get to that for you (and hopefully for me too) and write and publish the thesis which will take care of everything. so there is hope - thanks to the cat!
