Happy Friday everyone! :)

@Rockclimbinggirl, thank you for the bacon and eggs. Haven't had that for ages! Very yummy!

Volunteer shift this afternoon and groceries. Need to do my writing today. I don't know why I'm procrastinating on that so much. Ugh. :( I will get to it!

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning lovely café peeps! I hope that everyone is doing well.

@Rockclimbinggirl I think that you should go for something more extravagant when you are doing the cooking tomorrow - what is traditional in Canada? I bet @Acy has some ideas. Oooh or @Brian777 (are you in Canada? I think you are but I could easily just be making stuff up now lol)

Sadly I am still struggling with the diet - waiting on someone to develop a magic pill to make me slender and gorgeous overnight. I reckon my best bet is someone in the US for inventing that (with all their fancy new fangled sciency stuff) - @DrownedFishOnFire and @Witty_Sarcasm should get out and about and find me a genius scientist type then I could eat bacon and eggs instead of a satsuma for breakfast!

I am so glad that it is the weekend (nearly) - I need to SLEEP. Sadly I also need to work all weekend and then get my ass 5 hours down the country for a week of strategy meetings and stress that I could do without. If I manage to get through a week of company-funded breakfasts, lunches and dinners without gaining weight it will be a major celebration for my willpower!

Have a fantabulous day peeps!! :) :)

Well @Freya I have tried serving maple syrup before but it seems that a lot of you Café peeps do not like it.

How about poutine. There will also be smoke Pacific salmon available.

@Freya, not sure about Canadian "breakfasts." Perhaps slices of peameal bacon aka "Canadian bacon"? I have definitely heard of Canadian treats called "butter tarts" and "Nanaimo Bars". Also, French Canadian meat pies called Tourtieres - minced beef and pork, maybe some onions (other veggies depending on chef, but then it might not be traditional if you change the original recipe) in pastry shell. Very rich and fatty. Poutine has been mentioned. There is also maple syrup taffy - best done in deep winter - boil down some maple syrup until it's super thick and gooey, then drizzle it on a pan of fresh clean snow to make pieces of taffy. (Hard on the teeth, but tastes very good!) For lunch or appetizers, Newfoundland might offer cod tongues: "Fried cod tongues are a traditional Newfoundland food, often served as an appetizer. They are actually a little muscle from the neck of the fish. In terms of texture and flavour, they are somewhere between a cod fillet and a whole belly clam."

Good luck. If I have my druthers, I like sweets and have made tourtiere myself. I'd pass on the cod tongues, but would have some salmon that @Rockclimbinggirl offers.

Butter tarts: pastry shells filled with mixture of melted butter, corn syrup (or maple syrup), drop of lemon juice, nutmeg, egg, and brown sugar - baked.

Nanaimo bars: layers of wafer crumbs with chocolate, coconut, sugar, butter; vanilla custard butter cream icing; chocolate top (put in fridge, not baked):

@Freya didn't you hear? there's actually a diet where you eat all kinds of bacon and not gain weight but lose!

I had rice krispies cereal. Would have been nicer if I had marshmallows on hand to make those wicked treats!

@DrownedFishOnFire I did try the "bacon diet" once - Atkins I think? I think I lasted about 4 days before I desperately needed some carbs, so it didn't work out very well. It also seems absurd that you can't eat fruit on it so it befuddled my head. I am doing okay - 42lbs down... lets not think about the "to go" figure but will get there eventually :)

Hey Everyone, yes @Freya im in Canada and not sure that breakfasts we have here are any different. Bacon, eggs and maybe hash brown potatoes :)
Sorry you have to work this weekend Lu, you deserve some time off, it does show how valuable you are where you work though, but get some rest too.
@Rockclimbinggirl poutine I believe that's fries and gravy, I had them years ago in Toronto :)@Acy great pictures of food, looks delicious :) @DrownedFishOnFire cereal or porridge is usually all I have for breakfast and that's always after I've had ma tea. My Scottish roots are still there.
Hope everyone has a good day and weekend
Brian

I've had a pretty good day so far. Went out to the Strip District and got some yummy pho, fried shrimp rolls, and jasmine tea. I had Ben & Jerry's ice cream on the way back (one scoop of cotton candy and another of strawberry cheesecake). Had another text conversation with B, which ended up being deep and emotional again. He's just such a great friend... I'd be glad I joined rugby even if the only good part was meeting him, but of course he's nowhere near the only good part :)

Just gonna relax for the rest of today. With the season being over, I feel kind of aimless, unfortunately. But I'll get through it. I bet spring season'll be here before I know it.

What! Someone is a lunch napper? Did you know there are a lot of ways to stop that? No one dares to crack open my food at work or unleash the fury of DFOF! I know my food stands untouched, unmolested for days at a time.

Laxatives, GPS, concealed dye that makes the tongue turn blue or an embarassing color when consumed so you know whose tongue to cut off and their hand as well?

Sounds tempting :P but I wouldn't to get in trouble so leaving it up to management to decide what to do.
