well I see the café is not open so I will attempt to open it. have hot tea/coffee for those who want it and also some munchies for all. the theme for the day is a few simple questions.
1. where do you see yourself in 5 years
2 where do you see yourself in 10 years
3. how has SF been able to help you through the bad times
4 how does sf help you through the good times..

I know not very good questions anyone can come up with another topic.

Hi, everyone!

I feel like right now, the answer to 1 and 2 are too hard to come up with. I find it hard to see myself in the future, because I feel so down. Hopefully, someday I will be able to picture it better.

3 is all of the support the users have given me so far. Just responding and being there for me means a lot. 4 is rooting for me when I'm doing decent.

I would love a tea.

Hey @Bbear82 , thank you for tagging me in this cozy Café. *hug
I'll invite some people to join us... Come, @KA9 @NeveragainBread @Vakari @YellowHat @Sad Elf @Flying Fox @JDot @Fleurise @sinking_ship @Walker .

For the future, I'll try to think about my positive expectations, in the case I solved all my issues and life was more beautiful.

1. In 5 years : in Sweden. With a driver's license and a job. lol Not on antidepressants anymore.

2. In 10 years : still in Sweden, but perhaps somewhere else. Hopefully doing a job I LOVE and that I'm good at, and having some kind of purpose.

3. SF helping me through bad times : I have friends here, and friends make me feel better. I can always have a chat with someone. I can help people, and helping people makes me feel better, too.

4. SF helping through good times : not sure what kind of "help" is needed during good times. But other things that will always keep me here : SF friends, sending postcards, laughing with people, meeting new people from everywhere, SF meetups...

Have a good day, or a good night, everyone. :)

1) and 2) My perspective is changing but I still can't see me in 5 or 10 years. I think I will be alive. In 6 yrs I will "retire" which scares me so I will work pt. I don't know where I'll be in 10 years. Problem is I am just existing and I have no goals. Used to be that I wanted to travel when I retired but I don't think that there will be any extra money for it. My daughter is planning on kids so maybe that will be my goal when they arrive.

3) SF helping through the bad times by just listening and letting me vent and responding with empathy. I don't have a therapist - they are in short supply here - too many people needing help - but just a hug helps me to know I have been heard.
4) I wish I could help people here more when I am in a good space mentally. I try to many times what I write seems trite or meaningless even though I know from my perspective that just responding helps. But some people need more advice than I can give them or they touch me in a way I can't respond. So I do my best when I can.

After all that I must perform the cats' feeding. They are very insistent.

Hey,
1. In five years, I hope to have gone to uni and finished a degree in engineering. Hopefully I'll be one year into my first job? Maybe a few months in? I think I'll still be living with my parents until I have enough money to rent a flat. I'd like to think that I would be in a better place in five years and I hope that I will have healed from what I'm going through now.
2. In ten years, maybe I'll be living on my own. I would have to start thinking about settling down and starting a family. I guess that scares me a lot because I'm afraid of getting hurt. I don't want to put myself out there, or open up to a person. I have a feeling I'll never be ready for that again. But that's okay. Only time will tell.
3. SF gives me a lot of hope when I've lost all of mine. Everyone on here is lovely and forms a community that helps everyone regardless of their situation, age, gender, etc. I feel safe on SF and I can share my thoughts with people who are non-judgemental.
4. I guess during the good times, I like to read my own posts and see how much I've changed as a person. SF really helps with that because I get to re-read the kind comments everyone writes.
I really hope that I can help others like you guys have helped me.
P.s. thanks for opening the café, @Bbear82 , and thank you for tagging me, @Auri

In 5 years I see myself enrolled in a social psychology PhD program. In 10 years I’ll hopefully be doing research in the field of psychology. SF helps me in hard times by giving me a place to vent about everything that’s going wrong and people to pay attention and care. During good times, it’s mostly a good place to socialize, and I can try to help others too.

Hi everyone -
Popped into the cafe for a few
I can't answer questions 1 & 2. I don't really see myself in 5-10 years. *dunno
3. how has SF been able to help you through the bad times
I've met people here like nowhere else. SF truly is an amazing place. I can't even begin to describe.
4 how does sf help you through the good times.
I have the opportunity to share with others and support others (in good or bad times).

1. In 5 years, i hope to be living with my boyfriend and being happy with my life.
2. In 10 years, hopefully I'll have a good job and a few kids, because I'll be middle aged by then.
3. SF helps me through the bad times by being supportive.
4. It helps me through the good times by being there to talk to and share things with.

Ty for posting a cafe for today @Bbear82 & the q's are fine imo ;)

1. where do you see yourself in 5 years - Hopefully alive I guess (hopefully with a lot LESS emotional/mental suffering)

2 where do you see yourself in 10 years - Same as above

3. how has SF been able to help you through the bad times? People I've been able to talk to by PM who seemed to give a damn about what I said & who also helped me feel more useful by not only letting me know some things about themself but when I gave a reply and/or advice expressing gratitude for it or better yet letting me know how helpful they found it. Absolutely priceless feedback to get imo. Oh also anytime people have remembered to tag me, posted on my profile or gave attention (positive of course) period really.
4 how does sf help you through the good times? There don't tend to be a lot of those lately & kinda feels like there never will be again but the rare times I do feel strong/good then I feel like all my interactions seem to go in a much smoother way so just having a place I can go & say something & have people acknowledge it is very helpful cos it just helps reinforce my value as a person on this planet.

Seeing this late, it's been a long day. Thanks for the tag @Auri.

I can't answer 1 and 2. Partly the whole depression thing and partly just a lot of things uncertain in my life right now. I hope I'm happy, wherever I am.

3 and 4, I love that I can be honest here, and someone will get it.

Sf has helped me because on the brink of ending my life I found it was, is, a place that I can come to so that I don't dwell in suicidal ideation at my worst. I've met nice people of all ages and from different parts of the world which is cool. I also like the way this site is set up, in terms of different areas depending on what one needs at the moment. I always am in admiration of the moderators.

For my future, just to be healthy as well as my children and not destitute. Doing artwork would be an added bonus. Have a nice weekend SF friends.

@Auri thanks for the invite :D.

In five years I would like to have lost some weight and have some level of control over my OCD.

In the years ...hhmmm.... I would like to have a house with a room I can use as library !!

S F was somewhere I came across by accident at a very low point in my life. It is helpful to know that when I am lonely there are people out there who will listen.

In good times I try and offer help support to others on SF.

@Vakari Thanks for the invite.

1. In 5 years I want to have money coming in.

2. In 10 years hopefully, I will have moved out of my parent's house and can survive on my own. I would also like to have a girlfriend, but that seems so out of reach right now.

3. SF was one of the forums I came across when I was feeling really bad. This is my second favorite place to go when I feel bad(the other is a lonely life)

4. I don't come here that often when I feel good. I find myself wanting to say nice things to people in the "Empathy wanted" section of the forum, but I don't know what to say. So I rarely come around except to vent about life.

ok finally to the answers

1. in 5 years i'll probably be in the same place but my car will be fully restored
2. i'll probably be gone but if i'm still here i'll be the same. hopefully still cruising in my dodge and still around my grand children and hopefully my great grandchildren
3. how has SF helped through the bad times? people have helped me to continue to fight to get better. and of course when I help others it helps me know i'm still useful
4. how does SF help me through the good times: not sure if SF helps me through the good times but I like to share my good times with SF
