Today we will be serving a full Irish breakfast thanks to @Petal

@Acy will be leading the Café decorating team

The challenge for today is to name something that helps get you through a crisis

For me that would be a hot shower.

It is snowing here today. I also have work and studying to do.

Good morning! @Rockclimbinggirl thank you for opening up the Café today. @Petal thank you for the delightful irish breakfast. :)

Decorating...I'm continuing with the winter wonderland theme as it is snowy where I am today.

This lovely old chair was in the back. A bit of white paint and fresh evergreen boughs livened it up. I had to add the birdhouse because it was just so gosh-darned cute.

Once inside the Café, a little ambient light (battery powered, too, @Freya - no extra electrical outlets needed!).

@NYJmpMaster, you're in charge of the fireplace today. I'm sorry we strung the lights over the logs. Just set them out of the way; they're LED and won't cause a fire.

For those with a sweet tooth, @Witty_Sarcasm will make candy cane hot chocolate.

At Happy Hour, I will put out the winter wine glasses for the non-alocholic wine. (You can't go into Chat drunk!)

This is a PRINT of the famous Pieter Bruegel Hunters in the Snow. No matter what @Brian777 tells you, I did NOT put the original under my coat and walk out with it. :p

Beautiful decorations @Acy - thank you!

Need to get myself into town today, though the last weekend before xmas weekend is unlikely to be fun lol. I need to go to the post office and get a Christmas gift in the mail and buy some stamps for cards and generally get organised so I am going to go do that now.

Hope everyone stays toasty and warm today!!

Wow to the decorations @Acy ! The cafe feels so warm and snuggly!

I'm sad to say I haven't found a replacement for my thing to do in a crisis. It used to be my ex, but he's out of my life now. I'm managing the bad thoughts with bad actions right now and it's not looking good.

I am supposed to be 3/4ths of the way to Pittsburgh right now to see my daughters university graduation and then to have Christmas dinner with all 4 kids plus the grand kids tonight followed by "Christmas morning" tomorrow morning with all the kids and grand kids together for the first time in several years.

Instead, I am staring at 8 inches of snow, an as of yet still un-plowed road, and weather reports telling me that yes, the snow will stop in the next couple hours because it is turning into freezing rain. Not at all the type of day to drive 250 +/- miles (400km) safely or in a reasonable amount of time. I now find myself with a serious case of holiday blues and bah humbugs. Had really been looking forward to having kids and grandkids all together for the holiday, even if we were faking the date by a week. The good old fashioned depression style "nothing I plan ever works out" "why even bother to try anymore when all turns crappy and nothing I can do" is very prominent in my mind.

So, as to what do I do to get through a crisis? Well, it is not a crisis - just a crappy day and bad attitude- but I we are going to put up the Xmas tree that we have not gotten put up here at home yet, wrap and box all the presents that now need to be mailed, and then put truck in 4 wheel drive, make way to post office and send then to store to buy a very nice dinner and have a very nice dinner here at home and watch movies in front of fireplace with xmas lights on and at least try to make the weekend not completely miserable. (but firs ti am going to drink a cup of coffee and pout for another hour because I deserve that hour of pouting).

Hello. I really don't feel like doing anything today, but I gotta figure out what documentation I need for my food stamps and probably go to Rite Aid, but I heard it's supposed to be icy out, so I don't feel like going anywhere. Just had a dream that I got to spend time with my family. Reminds me of how unwanted I am.

Something that can help me during a crisis is my laptop. Wish I had something a little better though.

Hi to all. I forgot to mention what I do if I'm feeling in crisis mode. I try to distract myself and let my feeling settle down. If that doesn't work and I'm really upset, I crawl into bed and listen to classical music and/or sappy love songs until I sleep or feel better. :)

I think I shall take a hot bath. It will warm me hope and MAYBE help my anger. Am so pissed at banks. Want to move my IRA from one bank to another. Have talked to both banks 3 times. Every time they tell me something different. My appointment at one bank today, personal banker did not even come in or let me know he wouldn't be there. Will now have to wait another 6 months to try. May just dump both banks and go somewhere completely new. And yep, one of the banks is Wells Fargo. The one that is in so much trouble because of crooked dealings. Should just pull everything out and bury it somewhere. It wouldn't take much room. :)

Canceled my dinner party with my friends tonight due to the snow which didn't look like it was stopping but now it did. Now I get to spend the day alone. I also have a ton of food and my big eater can't make the rescheduled date. But on the bright side I have SF.

When I am in crisis it helps me to write it down. Then I crawl into bed but most times I don't have that luxury.

Heya all!
The tables look really full today, I think I'll bag one in a corner, that one over there, is it empty? Oh great, I'll take it, and watch all the going on's around me.
Today was tiring. Some victories, which, although they're victories and I'm proud of it, kind of feel foul in that, I guess I hate that I'm struggling with that.
I booked my tickets for holiday come Thursday! Really looking forward, although it seems unreal. Not sure how I'll manage without all I escape with - not gonna bring anything I escape with, with me. (except myself, which can use to, but want to try not to)
Hope it's a good day for you all. Make it a great day!
Oh, something that gets me through? Often puzzles, or reaching out to people and actually listening to what they tell me. Which I should do more than I do instead of messing up.

I keep postponing putting on clothes for getting to the store to get a turkey baster (yes you read this right) as I use a turkey baster to take water samples to do water parameter tests

Because Wild Child (the cat) ran off with my old turkey baster and hid it as its been MIA for over 2 weeks now. Been looking for it and I need to test the fish tanks water for my comfort

That sounds good, Acy! I made peanut butter bars for the Christmas party at work, and that went well, because they were mostly gone :) So that made me happy.

Something that helps me in a crisis is being around people who care. It keeps me from being pulled too far under.

I use amazon far more often than not for most random items- to say nothing about trying to shop this time of year where it is (in my opinion) just painful to fight the crowds... Hoping your fish are happy and well as seems likely by having somebody that cares enough to water test regularly as their keeper. Glad you made it home safely.

Talking to the Samaritans helps me get through a crisis. They are amazing. I was just on the phone to a lovely, supportive samaritans volunteer and just to have her listen was a major help. That is on the top of he list for getting through a crisis.
