Well, I'm feeling a bit better now, as work has become more manageable and there are more rains. My city is still under lockdown, but I think the daily amount of cases are going relatively lower. I was vaccinated, one shot. Overall, there is a bit of hope.

What happened to day, according to Wikipedia:

• 1519, Ferdinand Margellan set sail to travel around the world.
• 1793, Louvre Museum was opened.
• 1821, Missouri became a US state.
• 1897, Felix Hoffmann found a better way to make aspirin.
• 1920, the oldest cinema theater in Vietnam was opened. It was shut down in 1933 and turned into a park.
• 1961, US Army threw gallons of toxics over rural areas of Vietnam. Those places and people are still not completely free from those chemicals, and as usual, corporations like Dow Chemicals or Monsanto would not give a shit on what they did in the US, Vietnam or anywhere else.
• 1990, a NASA probe named Margellan reached Venus.
• 1996, Hong Kong got a new flag and a new emblem without the Union Jack.
• 2003, first wedding on the ISS.

Today is also the birthday of Antonio Banderas (he played Zorro and Puss in Boots) and the National Day for the Victims of Agent Orange in Vietnam

Thanks for the tag @johnDoen. Good evening. I have my tea and stepped outside to greet the night stars, Orion in the west horizon and Venus high in the morning sky. I wonder why it took so long for Hong Kong to get a new and redesigned flag and emblem, didn't realize English was still so present near the end of the 20th century. It's a beautiful flag...I just read it must be flown with the Chinese flag and subordinate to it. Not sure if this is accurate in current time
I'll take the flowers and the prairie field and the mountains, thank you. That's nice that work and rain is behaving better for you there. And the numbers are coming down......
Off to workout.....ugh

Hi @johnDoen , thank you for opening this amazing Café and tagging me. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better.

I'm currently sipping my coffee (Amaretto flavour, yum) and watching the continuous heavy rain we've had all Summer.

I'd like a flower, who doesn't like flowers? In particular "natural" little flowers from the field, I find those bouquets really cute and, well, I always prefer the natural vibe. I also like tulips and other flowers though.

Thanks for the tag @johnDoen, and glad you are feeling better! I'm bringing some sweet peas, I absolutely love the smell and they remind me of my cousin's garden when I visited as a child. I tried to grow some this year and only dark purples ones grew but it's enough to make me happy!

It sounds like the war and its impact is not forgotten in Vietnam, and understandably so. In the US, I think it is not completely forgotten, but has mostly faded.

got out to the shop to buy myself some chocolate today. rainy and cold though, so put the heating on pretty much soon as I got back indoors

have a bit of a stomach ache this afternoon, but I'm satisfied I ate a deecent enough dinner (peperoni pizza with garlic bread)
