Jim's Cafe, 19th of May, 2021

I'm feeling a bit better now so I decided to make a Jim's Cafe thread. So yeah, what happened on this day:

• 1743, Jean-Pierre Christin developed the Celsius scale.
• 1780, it was very dark during the day in New England and some parts of Canada.
• 2015, a crude oil spill by the coast of California.
• 2018, the wedding of an annoying celebrity couple, royalty or so.

And today is also the birthday of a founder of my country, Ho Chi Minh. I guess I can share some facts about him before you are surrounded in conspiracy theories. This man is the most respectable person in my country but I'm not here to write propaganda.

• His death was by heart failure.
• He wasn't perfect, everybody know this. He smoked a lot but managed to quit around the last 2 years of his life.
• His lifestyle was as simple (or minimalist) as any common Vietnamese people at that time (1940s to 1960s), despite being a head of state and a political party leader.
• He was an investigative journalist during 1920s and 1930s, focused on the issues in French colonies.
• He was an inspiration to a lot of political events during the 1950s and 1970s, mostly wars of independece in Africa.

Overall, what I can say about his personality is that he seems to be gentle, compassionate, charismatic and kind.

The Town out of Nowhere
You have finally arrived to a town, basically a safe place, without monsters. With the seal by your side, as it has been following you for a while now, where do you want to go next?

• An inn - where you can have a rest
• A shop - where you can get all the supply you need for your next adventures
• A forge - where you can get your equipments maintained and fixed
• A restaurant - where you can get the best local food available
• A library - where you can read some books
• A school - where you can learn something about fighting monsters or magic
• A pub - where you can find local townspeople and adventurers to hang out

Hi everything. Really pleased to hear you are feeling a little better today @johnDoen. That’s really good news. Remember this feeling so you can hang onto it another day.

The choice is a tough one today as to where I would visit. Probably the restaurant first as I can also rest while sitting there. Then probably the school to learn about the monsters before the shop for supplies and finally the inn to rest once all the jobs are done. If I have time the pub sounds a good place to meet people and chat. So that’s the order I would go in.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Wednesday, that the Sun is shining where you are and that you all take extra care of yourselves!

I'd spend the loveliest day at the library, go to the pub in the evening to meet some friends, and finally to the inn to relax. Sounds like a perfect day in a Fantasy world.

Thank you for the tag @johnDoen. It depends upon how long I've been traveling and how hungry I am....and I'd check in with the seal as well to have his needs met. Shop and forge for survival needs first, then the restaurant and pub being in the same building, a little education, and finally the inn.

Very interesting facts, thank you for sharing them

I think i'd first visit the restaurant so I could eat, as eating fires your fuel for energy, so that makes a good start (and who doesn't like trying new food right?)
Then i'd probably go off to the school to learn about monsters and magic (always wanted to be a wizard/witch) hehehe, could then be like Harry Potter but a female version lol so essentially Hermoine Granger lol
Then i'd maybe go to the library to practice what i'd just learnt and read more about it all
Then i think i'd possibly have a treck around the new town and meet new people...so possibly enter this new pub that you mentioned
Then finally i'd head back to the place of rest ready for a new day tomorrow

I would probably go straight to the pub to try and gather as much information about the area as possible, and meet some new people. Maybe I'd head to the school next to learn some new cool skills.

@johnDoen , my own overwhelming discombobulance has kind of thrown me out of the loop and that makes tying up loose ends not so likely, but i will think and think and maybe i can make head and tail of this and reinstate myself. hoping...

this, the above, is so much in line with a poem i am presently writing in “real life” (rev 10ish as a matter of fact) that i think i will stick to the poem thought in answering. maybe it will lead to the right place. seal may have been with me for a while now, but what i have not yet come to realize but now have just caught a glimmer of, is that this seal is not merely a guardian, but the seal of approval. that is why this creature has been claping with delight! did you know?

• An inn - where you can have a rest - as no rest for me is allowed, rest is the thing i must steal when i can. so i do... but not in the inn.
• A shop - where you can get all the supply you need for your next adventures. adventure for me, is more an adventure for a someone new, who is yet to arrive. no need to waste time here.
• A forge - where you can get your equipments maintained and fixed. all i carried from the start was an empty hand. karate? no! a trembling hand, empty and needy due to lack of all that i’d otherwise might need maintained or fixed at this point in time. so i move on.
• A restaurant - where you can get the best local food available. so in need of food i must still tolerate having none! why i am not allowed such comfort, i have yet to learn.
• A library - where you can read some books. yet still, when reading, i fall asleep to nothing but a restless sleep. i will need to find my information elsewhere and do my best to stay awake.
• A school - where you can learn something about fighting monsters or magic. magic! yes. i believe i will fight no more or so the teacher here tells us. what i have learned i am learning still and that she captures monsters and she does have magic and uses it as situation calls for - this i might have already learned. yet best, i must learn what and how i’m learning and how i can make that work for me.
• A pub - where you can find local townspeople and adventurers to hang out. i’ve only known townspeople to feign disapproval of me and all i stand for! how can i make them be more honest? would it be in the magic? might magic actually be the real? might they be in need of greater truth? thus learning the more is what i am in need of. so, off to school.
