When I turned 30 I was so dismayed because... 30. It just seemed so old (haha). I decided to spend it alone, and went to a store I loved, and went on a spree. And, then I went to my favorite fast food place for my dinner. I came home and ate like a pig and watched a bunch of movies I loved. It turned out to be a really lovely birthday.

I'm turning 50 soon, and I'm planning on doing something similar. Just me, bad food and maybe some clothes shopping. And possibly a few of my favorite films afterwards.

I did this at 40. Struck me suddenly and I was distraught about it. My sons birthday is 2 weeks before mine and his is actually the one that usually gets me - him getting older makes me feel super old and then I'm over it by the time mine rolls around. But god, 40 nearly killed me. Not looking forward to 50. *insert middle finger emote here*

Ok I'll answer the q here too ;) :)

Do you have any favorite birthday memories?
Yes, lots. I'm glad to say that all my bdays have always been very special days. My mom has always made me a cake (still does, lol!) and sometimes my sis has made me a cake too which has been really nice (2 cakes for a bday = a very happy bday, lol). Their kindness to me has more than made up for whatever misery I might have suffered from the trauma I experienced in my life. The more I can be around them and focus on that good/positive energy the more healed I slowly become I think.

Anyway sorry got sidetracked there, so ya, one of my best bday memories is my 13th bday cos it was a surprise party and my best friend was there who I didn't get to see much at that point since I'd moved and we didn't get to go to the same high school. We rarely got to "hang out" as in me going to her place or her coming to mine for various reasons, so getting to see her in the summer was a BIG deal for me. My sis was there too which was great cos I only got to see her a couple times a month (only on weekends) and I just felt very special that day. Probably the most special I ever felt in my whole life. Everyone deserves at least 1 surprise party in their life I think. :)
