2. honestly, i stay in my room as long as i can

3. i used to enjoy spending time with my family, but that just doesn't happen anymore, i would rather be alone.

4. it's just not like it used to be, my kids are grown now and going on with their own lives, they don't have time for us anymore. I feel like my family just all went their separate ways

2. how do you deal with the stress of christmas There is no stress, its all calm. I plan it out very carefully and mindfully.

3. what do you like about christmas Christmas morning when everyone is excited opening their gifts, seeing the smile on my niece's face as she opens her gifts, the food, chocolates on Christmas morning and I love the sage and onion stuffing on the turkey, yum. Its about giving, I donated to the local suicide awareness yesterday and I felt there was no better cause and it needs the funding more than anything else in my opinion. I really liked how I saw others giving to the cause too, there's a lot of good kind heart-ed people out there.

4. what do you dislike the most about christmas I dislike that people are homeless and have nothing to celebrate, or people that have no family to celebrate it wth, people struggling with deaths over the year that their loved ones are no longer with them, but overall I personally have nothing to dislike about Christmas except Christmas pudding, just looking at it makes me feel sick lol

1)I have never celebrated the holiday for myself. I used to celebrate and share it with others in a variety of ways. Winter solstice happens the same week as Christmas and I acknowledge that event.
2) Last year I wasn't able to. That's part of why and when I found SF. And that's how I'm dealing with the stress this year. The loneliness that's enhanced, if that's possible, by all the festive activity around.....
3) I do like that peoples' generous spirits get touched and expressed.
4) Commercialism in its manifestations...that is a shopping event for many, not remembering or prioritizing what the meaning of the holiday and celebration is for.

The mere fact that you write "stress of christmas" is self-relevatory. I don't get stressed about christmas, any more than I get I stressed out about any other artificially inflated, hyper-commercialized holiday.

The lights are pretty. And some of the holiday movies are fun to watch.

The artificiality, the hypercommercialism, and (most of all) the fact that religion hijacked what was originally a NON-RELIGIOUS, secular festival that started as a way for people to cope with the cold, dark, depressing winter, by lighting lights, decorating evergreens, feasting, and engaging in general merriment..

These days I just do a roast dinner, that's about the sum of it. My husband has ruined or sulked every Christmas so I have learned not to expect it to be special. I'm ok with that, I prefer new year.

2. how do you deal with the stress of christmas

By not expecting anything. I bury my head in the sand re all the fuss and commercial nonsense and only think about it a few days ahead. Like today!

3. what do you like about christmas

That people actually think about the more vulnerable people in society but I wish they would be more considerate all year round. I love the food and just being lazy for the rest of the afternoon and best of all, knowing it's nearly over.

4. what do you dislike the most about christmas

The time of year, the commercials, the Christmas music, the fake niceness. In the past I hated the obligations and the cards from in-laws and them ringing up doing their duty and my sons having to speak to them.

1) Do you celebrate Christmas?

I do go out with a few friends on Christmas night to celebrate it, but not every year. As a kid, I went out with my parents. I remember when I was a kid , there was a real Christmas tree just beside my old home and a real one is rare to find here. Once I was wearing a Santa hat and was fooling around in the streets and a restaurant with friends during Xmas..haha

2) How do you deal with the stress of Christmas?

I love Christmas, it doesn't stress me

I like eating cakes, visiting churches(only day I visit a church), giving and receiving a few gifts on Christmas

I hate the crowded streets during Christmas
