So, how was your Valentines Day? (C'mon, you knew that was coming...). :P

I think there is maybe about 90% of us here who are either in toxic relationships or single (if I were to guess). So Im going to assume that there's a good chance your answer to that question is "absolute shit" or "just another day". Well, if that's the case, then me too, my friend. At least, on the relationship front.

I did, however, give my mom a balloon bouquet that I picked out the pieces for myself, and she thought was adorable. And I gave my brother one of those "magic," expanding, (star wars themed) towels, which I knew he'd like because he's a total dork. And a card that said: I only give valentines to the innocent and pure of heart...but keep it anyway. He didn't get the joke at first, though, which kind of ruined the moment, LOL. But anyway...V-Day doesn't necessarily HAVE to be about romantic relationships. You can show anyone who is important to you that you care. And not just on February 14th or other national holidays, for that matter, but any day. Just because. That's how I believe it should be, at least.

Those of you in toxic relationships, I feel you. It took me 9 years to get out of mine. And yes, I'm lonely today, not going to lie. But you know what, it's okay. It's okay because I have other people in my life who love me...and because it's okay to feel lonely now and again (believe it or not, lol...even though our brains are telling us to change our relationship status asap...). But being with someone is not the only way to be happy, and you absolutely cannot validate your worth through anyone else. But just to be clear, it's okay to feel lonely IF, and only if, you're single...NOT if you're in an abusive relationship. The latter is 100% not okay, and if this is your situation, then I sincerely hope you get out of it...before it's too late. You deserve more and you're worth so much more than you realize, and capable of so much more than you could possibly imagine. You have that inner strength in you to walk away, whether you believe it or not. I didn't think I did either...until I did.

Anyway...enjoy your day/week, and remember that the main person in your corner, who loves and cares for you should always be you.

I got chocolates and flowers from my daughter who I wasn't supposed to see because she was busy and chocolates from a married couple who happen to be friends. I got them chocolate covered strawberries which I hope they share. It was just another day.

It was just another day when I had been married for a few years. We were big on the anniversary but not Valentine's Day. But that's all in the past.

I know I'm loved by friends and family but it would be nice to have that special someone.

I love your post. :)

Valentine’s Day has always been a reminder of the people I love/who love me, and that mostly includes my friends. So as every year, I took a little time to send them a little message and to tell them that I care (I don’t do it as much irl than with SF friends ^^). Friends are important, let them know. I wouldn’t be who/where I am without them.

For my special friend - as both cheerful cynics, we planned not to do or get anything, but of course we both secretly ended up indulging in some clichés. They were full of meaning, so there’s that… We spent the loveliest evening, watching Chocolat, my favourite.

On Sunday we went to our favourite place again - the Natural History Museum. I made some new friends : Eddie, Merry and Pippin, and George (in order of appearance). :)

I feel like I basically fucking grew up with some of you guys, FFS. Granted, 11 years ago, I was still technically an adult already, but with an extremely childish mindset. And now, I'm finally more intuitive and self-aware, not angry at the entire world anymore, not angry at myself anymore, AND even doing this whole "adulting" thing finally and NOT sucking at it. Who the hell would have thought? Certainly not me about 6 months ago.

Nice post, glad to see a cafe.

My Vday was kinda stressful cos of some stuff that happened with my friend but things got better after we had a bit of a spat so it ended better at least. Was a strange day though, very up and down thanks to his drama but trying hard to be a good friend to him. I did my best to do what I always do on that day which is celebrate love in all its forms.

That looks like my type of place to check out. I wish we had better and more museums locally, but that is me showing my nerd side. :)

Wonderful!👍 And Chocolat is a charming (and quite funny!) film.

I worked, as Hallmark Day™ (as we refer to it) is a busy day for us. Then my son came over, as he always does on Monday afternoon.

I never really cared about 2/14 even when I was married or otherwise in a relationship. Just another day. I don't need corporations telling me I should buy shallow, cliched material bullshit on a specific day in February to show my love (romantic or otherwise) for someone, just like I don't need to eat turkey on a specific Thursday in November to show gratitude for the good things in my life.

I know that someone at the end of last week ask me if I remembered what Monday was and my response was 111 years since John Browning patented the Colt 1911. I just claim no surprise that some find me to be different in how I think of things. LOL

Another one bites the fucking dust. Everything seems all well and good, emotions run high, and then suddenly you lose that "connection" you had with them for NO apparent reason and are back to square one. I have a feeling that at this rate, when I'm dead, it'll say on my gravestone: "She tried, but fuck most people."

One of the few things I requested for my headstone was for it to be simple. I claimed post it as:

Name
Born....................12/16/1963
Game Over..........And the date I check out

No embellishments.
