This sign reminded me of a restaurant I went to on a school trip to Quebec once when I was younger: Le Cochon Dingue (for people who don't know, that means something along the lines of The Crazy Pig) They have multiple locations in Quebec City, and it was a really fun place to have breakfast. Here are some signs/logos.

It used to be a dream of mine to live in Quebec, but I doubt that will ever be possible for me. But maybe when I have the money for a vacation, I can go back and visit some time.

Is that an Oldsmobile? My knowledge of that era American cars isn't that great. :P
What makes it have special meaning to you?

That car is a 1956 DeSoto Fireflite, produced by Chrysler Corp. DeSoto was positioned just underneath Chrysler in the hierarchy of those days. It was a flashy and fast car.

The DeSoto brand was discontinued at the end of 1960, leaving Dodge and Chrysler to fill in the gap.

I miss color and style in automobiles.

It's a real nice car. I bet everyone would like to go for a ride in it. They're probably all lining up already. Must have a real cigarette lighter too. And I don't even smoke. They don't make 'em like they used to. I doubt a modern car would age as nicely. Thanks.

I wish the car was mine. I can't afford to buy an old car and even if I did, I don't have anywhere to store it. I love looking at ads for old cars (and trucks). I imagine myself being in that era when I look at them.

Oh you've started something now JD! I love cars and have been looking at buying an American classic. I started with minis and still have my first car. Into bikes and 4x4s at the moment but I definitly have a long term goal for something like that!!

Just in case you haven't; everyday someone opens up the new cafe thread for that date and generally starts off a theme and tags a few people. People come along and bring stuff like food, drinks, locations, or whatever and tag more people. It's ultimately just a place to relax and have some fun away from the pain of daily life. Anything goes here, and that's a great post.

Don't anyone let me have the keys again otherwise it'll be a day of vehicles....and hogs of course :p

@Karmitkurmit Ha. I used to raise hogs. And I've owned a bunch of old cars. My one claim to fame in this life is that I am an expert on old cars, especially post-WWII American cars. I love the arcane details, like engine size, carburetor type, transmission options, etc.

I wish I was that "successful" in the other aspects of my life.

Now see here! My favorite automotive company is American Motors, which was formed by the merger of Nash and Hudson in 1954. I love these Metropolitans. Interesting factoid: You could buy a Hudson Metropolitan up through 1957. After that, the Hudson and Nash nameplates disappeared. The Metropolitan continued to be sold by what were now American Motors dealers, which were now selling Ramblers as their bread and butter.

I can tell you're an expert! If it's a passion of yours then it's a great escape to have from the routines of life. Perhaps think about starting a thread somewhere in the Gathering part of the forum on the subject?

Oh I like "hogs", so does my step dad, and thats cool you used to race them! Definitly include stuff like that in your thread and get people talking...but I was referring to hedgehogs They feature (now and then) in my posts, as many will testify to! o_O

I used to raise the kind of hogs you eat, as well as beef cattle. That was in a different life when I was much younger. As a lapsed farmboy, I love old tractors too. In fact, my username reflects my favorite tractor of all time, the John Deere 4010.

I've heard it's not the easiest for people in the US to move to Canada unless they have some kind of special skill or money or something. IDK. Maybe I could find someone to marry...

I'm looking to get an African Pygmy hedgehog soon hopefully, rescue if I can find one.

I work with a lot of farmers and ex farmers here, I live in the country side.

I love tractors (well basically anything with an engine) and especially David Brown Selectamatics and Implematics. I almost bought an 880 a few years ago but it had a cracked block and I didn't really want the hassle of changing/welding it. Cast welding is a sod!

Never had any reason to know about John Deeres except by way of my kids toys and inadvertently seeing ads in magazines. I remember seeing an ad for replicas of their line. I wanted to but never did get and wonder if they were something special or just a bunch of toys.

We used to have David Brown tractors here in the 'states too...I remember seeing them with some regularity back in the 1970s. I always liked the looks of them!
