Hello SF lovelies! Happy Friday!

Today is a simple, fun one:

Do you like puzzles? Why or why not?
Crossword, sudoku, word search?
JIgsaw?
those frustrating little wooden things you take apart and put together?

I live at a Senior apartment building and there are always a couple jigsaw puzzles going down in the common room.

Ty for posting a cafe for today too @Angie :) Wishing you have a happy Friday too.

My answers to those q's (and will do some tags too)

Do you like puzzles? Why or why not?
Yup, they're fun. I can't usually do ones that have more than 150 pieces though so I don't think I'm very "good" at them, I still enjoy them though.

Crossword, sudoku, word search?
Crosswords - I used to do them almost every day in this free paper we used to get in our old area (lotsa years ago now), now I rarely do them, should do them more though cos I know they are good for the brain, I kinda suck at them too though lol :p
Sudoku - Yes, I do this fairly often and have since about 2012, love it, lotsa fun! :)
Word search - I play a daily word search app on my phone, so yup, I do at least 1 or more of them per day.

Jigsaw?
Yup, but can only do ones completely on my own if they are 150 pieces or less. More than that and I do better with it if I'm doing the puzzle "with someone else" lol :p

Those frustrating little wooden things you take apart and put together?
They can be fun sometimes yup. I don't do them often though (don't really have any of them now, I did as a kid though I think...)

Sudoku is boring and time-wasting
Lol, aw I used to think that too, but what made me want to get better at it was actually randomly watching someone filling one in. They were so "quick" with it, I was so impressed and was like "I want to be able to be that good at sudoku too" so after that I tried a lot harder to get better at it. It was VERY hard for me at first, I would make such dumb, obvious mistakes with it and get quite frustrated. Now that mostly only happens if it is a pretty hard one. Anyway maybe one day you will like it more and not find it quite so boring and time-wasting lol ;) :p

I think I played Wordle before, is it one where you have to make as many words as you can with the letters they give you? I used to play a few of those kinds, but I have played those kinds less over the last couple years. I should play them more again though cos I remember enjoying trying to think of as many words as I could with the letters :)

Hey @Angie, doing well with the questions once again. Thanks for opening, and thanks to @JMG for tagging me. *hug*hug
And happy birthday too, JMG. *stars*bday*hug

Do you like puzzles? Why or why not?
I do. I find something really satisfying about solving a well-designed puzzle. It's enjoyable, doing a pure test of your ability to incorporate and interpret the information that you've been given. I've actually recently been thinking of reinstalling and playing more of an escape room simulator i got into a while back. I think it's been long enough since i last played it i even forgot all the solutions to the rooms i previously completed.

Crossword, sudoku, word search?
I like crosswords, and sudoku, but i'm not a big fan of wordsearches. No shade to people who do like them, but they're a bit basic for me - it's all pattern recognition, no critical thinking skills required.

I can enjoy jigsaws, but i find they're in a space between the pure pattern recognition of a wordsearch, and the more complex thought processes required in something like a crossword, so my enjoyment's kinda limited. Plus i play enough games where some of the puzzles are basically piecing together a jigsaw, so that itch gets scratched a little too much if anything.

those frustrating little wooden things you take apart and put together?
I don't really like those, because i don't see the point in unsolving the puzzle so you can solve it again. If you remember how you solved it the first time, it's not critical thinking at that stage, it's memory retention. And there can be fun in memory retention challenges, but i don't think those things are how you do it.

Thank you for the tag @JMG, and happy birthday again! Hope your day is going well :)

Do you like puzzles? Why or why not?
Yes because they keep my brain in shape :D

Crossword, sudoku, word search?
Word search and crossword mostly. Sudoku confuses me because I'm bad with numbers.

JIgsaw?
Those are fun, haven't done them in a while.

those frustrating little wooden things you take apart and put together?
That would probably annoy me :D

Thanks for opening @Angie and happy birthday to @JMG!

I don't do games with words because I am totally useless at them.
I play Sudoku on a tablet and now am racing myself as well as minimizing hints. Somehow I motivated a lot of people to play Sudoku.

Jigsaw: Like word games, I have a lot of trouble with jigsaws so I don't do them. I do not have the mental acuity to "see" shapes and place accordingly although I am fascinated by others doing them.

A *bday@AFlower and @JMG hoping for fine days for you both.

I like puzzles of certain types. Working with IT and tech is a big puzzle to work out issues and I do love that whether it is why is the system performing a way or helping to work out cybersecurity at work. Seeking out what the problems are and what the fix may be. I admit that some word puzzles like anagrams I have never been good with, but riddles I am quite good.

Happy Birthday @JMG :) :) ๐ŸŒธโœจ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿค—

I like puzzles, but depends on my mood and whether I'm busy with other things like painting. Painting, or the design and planning of one, is like doing a certain kind puzzle.

I enjoy the free wordle, and easy crosswords, & I used to occasionally fix old fashioned clocks (while not a puzzle per se, it's similar brain work)

Thank you Witty, ya it was fun, friend got here a bit later than he usually does on Friday nights, but once he was here we had the cake and then watched Star Wars 5 like weโ€™d planned :) Iโ€™m pretty tired now but came on here quickly to see if thereโ€™s a new cafe posted for today and I see there has been so gonna check that out and then probably go to bed. So glad today will be the last of the 30C+ days :p

Happy Birthday @JMG :):) ๐ŸŒธโœจ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿค—

I don't do any "real" puzzles now, but sometimes make up my own simple math puzzles, converting miles/kilometers/yards or fahrenheit /celsius. Or if a package of food has 5 servings, and lists calories, protein and sodium for each, I try to figure out those if I divided the package into 3 portions.
I've played (though not completed) a massive, immersive computer game, which was about exploring a mythical world, and trying to find clues and order in it.
I used to do jigsaw puzzles, and may start again. There's something appealing about something with a visible, finite solution

peace
:)

Ty for opening @Angie You always have such great questions.

i Love puzzles. Especially puzzles that use logic.
Crosswords i am horrible at because i am not good at trivia type things and to me, it's along the same lines.
Jigsaw puzzles are a wonderful way for me to shut down and reset my braincell. It also holds some extremely fond memories for me with a grandmother and my children.
