Good morning All,

No one has opened a cafe so I thought I would give it a try.

It's a rainy day here in the Northeast USA. We will have a record "lowest high temp" of 60F for the day and rainy. I have a "cook-in" today as my cookout is scheduled for today. 20 people in my tiny house. We will have sandwiches (subs) and wraps for the main course as we can't use the grill due to the rain.

Not all that special for me anymore. Fireworks were fun as a kid, but are a hazard now. I stay home on the 4th to keep an eye on my house and yard. Always find spent fireworks on them the following day.

2) do you like cookouts?
Sure!
3) What is your favorite foods for a cookout (getting ideas for next year *yes4
hotdogs, burgers, chicken, ribs

Thanks for the tag @cymbele !

1) If you are in the USA what are you doing for the 4th of July? Is it special in your family?
Probably nothing this year. A few nights ago I saw some cool fireworks in the distance out my window, so maybe I'll be able to see more tomorrow night. It wasn't huge with my family, but when I was growing up we always tended to go out to the concert of the local symphony orchestra in a park that had fireworks after. They tended to play Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture (the famous piece with the cannons) at the end of the concert.
2) do you like cookouts?
Yes :)
3) What is your favorite foods for a cookout (getting ideas for next year *yes4 )
Pretty much everything, but I love potato salad and steak especially.

Not a special day for me, and unlike a lot of others, my job did not give us a three day weekend because the fourth falls on a Sunday. Just plan on working. But that's OK.

2) do you like cookouts?

I'm a vegetarian, so I don't really participate in cookouts, but they can be fun gatherings.

3) What is your favorite foods for a cookout (getting ideas for next year *yes4 )

Veggie dogs are so good when they are grilled!

1) If you are in the USA what are you doing for the 4th of July? Is it special in your family?

Stay home and relax. It used to be when younger for me but getting older I remember the day but not much else.

2) do you like cookouts?

Absolutely. I have one of the small family of four grills and actually grill a lot of meats and vegetables. It is a mix on food for me very healthy or horrible. LOL. Tomorrow will be a cheeseburger cooked on flames and home made onion rings.

3) What is your favorite foods for a cookout (getting ideas for next year *yes4 )

Burgers, steaks, deer, hog as well as brisket and other barbecue. Chicken and fish come out quite good also.

I'm not American so 4th of July is just a normal Sunday for me, my family and my country.

Before the pandemic, cookout is the norm in my country for holidays, welcoming guests, or family meetings, especially in the countryside, where there is more space and the food is fresher. Everyone gather around in a yard near a kitchen for preparation, cooking, then a feast. It's fun, but my eyes are often hurt by the smoke when grilling.

For cookout, I think of ribs, steaks, sausages, maybe sweet potatoes and corns. Some people enjoy shrimps and eggplants, but I don't like them much. Does it have to be grilled food?

1) If you are in the USA what are you doing for the 4th of July? Is it special in your family?
Independence day was not a special remembrance celebration when I was growing up even though we used the holiday as an excuse for family get togethers. It just didn't have anything to do with America's freedom. It means a lot to me now, I don't know about my siblings. I was very busy the last two days after leaving work at 12:24 pm on Friday and I just don't feel like doing anything today. I slept later than usual, woke up at 4:30 this morning, and I think I might just be lazy today. I washed some dishes and am going to put my laundry away and take out my garbage, that takes about a half hour and then I will probably do absolutely nothing until this evening. This evening I am hanging out at my sister and her husband's place, plant my butt in a very comfortable chair and smoke a cigar. I drank my last alcohol last Sunday afternoon, this afternoon will be one week freedom, two reasons to celebrate (I start AA Tuesday evening). We had a family get together Friday night, this is the campfire I sat around until 2 am Saturday morning with some great friends.

2) do you like cookouts?
Love cookouts with family and friends, great times.

3) What is your favorite foods for a cookout (getting ideas for next year *yes4 )
My absolute favorite food for a cookout is bratwurst. I never once had bratwurst until I began dating the woman I married when I was around 19, I started attending her church and at the first church cookout they were grilling some bratwurst and I tasted one for the first time. I boil them before hand so they are cooked and then grill them enough to leave good burn marks from the grill, a nice crisp outside, and heated to the center.
