Jim's Cafe - Monday, Nov. 4, 2024 "three guests"

#24
FWIW I think St. Jude is my favorite saint. Iโ€™m not Catholic but I like the prayer candles that used to be found in the grocery store. Through checking out the candles, I stumbled on a St Jude candle that describes him as the patron saint of causes almost despaired of.

I just mention this because maybe that would resonate for you.
Yes he is the patron Saint of lost causes so would definitely resonate lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

Famous people would be Jesus, the Pope (I'm even not Catholic) and Maybe Dallas Willard, a Christian philosopher.

People that I would invite today into my life, my best male friend (and his wife), my best female friend, and my younger sister. TBH the siblings and I get along pretty well and get together often including my best (male) friend and his wife. My best female friend is very independent and generally is too busy to join us so she is not really considered to be part of the family.

That is such a great question! I find it easy to find many people I'd like to meet and listen to, but inviting 3 guests to my place at the same time, I need to think about us having some common ground. I'll make little introductions because a lot of my heroes are a little less known in general culture, but very famous within their own circle.

Tuomas Holopainen - musician and lyricist. I have to credit him for a lot of my philosophy of life and even my personality (the good sides of it :p). He has a rather poetic outlook on life, and loves themes like philosophy, innocence, imagination, literature, nature, science, love...

Etel Adnan - poet and artist. She first stroke me as an incredibly well spoken woman at her age (in her 90s) and I love listening to her talk - to me, she spoke in poetry. She loved themes of intersectional feminism, philosophy, art.

Ursula Le Guin - novelist and poet. She typically imagined science fiction and fantasy worlds that challenge our ideas about the human condition. She loved themes of philosophy, feminism, freedom, love, war...

I admire how these people think and could listen to them talk forever. All very endearing characters. โ™ก

I would choose:
- Jesus
- Socrates
- Charles Darwin

I was thinking of making the 3rd person a creative; a great musician or painter, but if its at home, Auri would be there and she would NEVER forgive me if I didn't invite Darwin :P

p.s. for any atheists, there is value in inviting Jesus, because if he doesn't show up, we can still learn something valuable. I considered inviting 3 religious figures to see which one showed up :P but lets not be too cynical.

Thank you for the tag @Kiwi2016 :)

I would want to sit down with my grandma and stepdad again so I could spend time with them once more. As for the last person, that's hard to choose. There are lots of friends online I would love to be able to spend time with. :)

I agree about lost causes. Most people in this world are a bit if not more. I count myself amongst them. They are the ones needing someone in their corner the most at times.

May I know why am I tagged? ๐Ÿ˜†
Sure, Congratsbaby... We just tag people, as a means of inviting them into the/that day's Cafe` (of Ji'ms)
So, sometimes this just happens to be people you remember, or otherwise, as if so often my case:
Just more about really whomever pops into my head (& this is generally just done by who happens to
be around and posting on either that given day - or that given moment) // I also don't always tag
those members who may already know this, and therefore, not need reminding. In short, there is no
requirement towards entering in & partaking in, any given cafe`. So, it really just serves as a reminder,
in case you aren't around in time to see it. Sometimes, somebody may think of you, and think (too)
that you'd like to be involved on that given day, for whatever reason (topic of relevance, or not). :)

I also try & not tag those that I may feel would not like to be involved or invited . . . but needless to say: this is pretty
hard to do--or as in~ *Fairly hard to keep track of; & at least, in my head and my brain, any^way! However, if you would
happen to fall into or under this category, simply let me know & I'll do my best. Which is about all I can promise. To
try to remember, not to tag you, in the future.
