Welcome to Jim's Saturday Cafe. Today's date is 25th May, the 145th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. On this day in 1961, US president JFK announces the goal of putting a man on the moon before the end of the decade. On this day in 1977, the first Star Wars film is released. It was later retitled Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope in 1981.

Today's theme - What is/was your favourite board game?

Growing up my friend and I used to play marathon games of Risk (like a single game went for days). We didn't necessarily follow the actual rules 😊

Also re Star Wars - YOU CAN'T RENAME A MOVIE AFTER IT'S RELEASE!!! Sheesh. FYI i'm not a Star Wars fan, in case anyone couldn't guess - i'm a die hard trekkie.

thank you for opening the café and inviting me @Bloop . my alltime favorite was monopoly. my parents wouldn't play with my older brother and I anymore because we took it too seriously. we tried to not only crush people but make them squirm . there were times my brother and I played the same game for weeks trying to destroy each other until we would finally give up and call it a draw. I also liked battleship the original.

I like character driven ;) But Star Wars is not only about special effects xD It only revolutionized them. But the story is quite interesting :)

Cool themes for today esp. love the 2nd q & pretty sure my answer is extremely obvious cos of my profile/avatar pic (if you know who it is then you know what it's from I'm guessing) but I'll just say it to be clear - Star Wars! :) ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Oh also I didn't realize this before but I don't feel that bad about it overall since I wasn't even born yet when any of the original 3 movies were released, but the final Star Wars movie (Episode 6 - Return of the Jedi) was also released on this day in 1983 ;)

Answer to the first q about fave board games are Payday, Clue, Apples to Apples (technically doesn't have a "board" but it's still a fun game anyway) and Monopoly is ok sometimes too, I love how many diff. versions have been made of it anyway.
