This is going to sound strange but I am thankful to my husband because without him I might still be in a crappy office job and I wouldn't have lived in so many different places. I'm thankful to a cousin who was like a mum to me and when I spent my teenage years with her I was able to see my own family more clearly.

Now I really wish I had some bacon in the house!

I think it's good to spend time away during teenage years if you need to. How long did you live with your cousin?

I spent a year in a group home at 15-16. Ran away from a different one bcz it was not a place I wanted to be at. Lived with a friend and her sister and her single mother for about 4 months at 13.

Hmmmm....I'm thankful for running hot and cold water, indoor plumbing, electricity, living in a (relatively) stable democratic (I guess) country, a decent place to live, a decent job, a steady paycheck, stalwart, loyal friends, my older brother in Pittsburgh, being able to buy food, pay my bills, and have a little left over, my silly 🐈...

Most of all, my healthy child, and the fact that his autism is pretty mild..

Oh yeah, this community and the people I've 'met' here!

It's going to sound a lot nicer than it was but I was at boarding school so I stayed with her at the weekends, and did that for 4 years (14-18). Hated every single minute of it. I tried to run away too but it didn't last long! She was pretty patient with me but she didn't really understand what I was going through. I get panic attacks in hospitals and hate staying in people's houses - can't bear the feeling of being trapped and not in control. (Another reason I don't want to live long enough to end up in a home.)

That sounds very tough, @Lane. That's such a difficult time in one's life too, that must have been so hard.

I'm thankful I have somethingnto believe in today, and that it gives me a purpose which I'm not able to give to myself by merely existing.

Right now I am thankful for my mental health team. I've had a bad patch for the last couple weeks and they listened to me and are working with me. It is a marvelous thing to have a team like that on my side

Also thankful to my neighbor who said she would look after Doc if I ended up in hospital. She said sure and didn't ask questions. Its a relief to know a dependable and gracious person lives next door.

I am thankful for many folks here at SF. I won't mention names as I'm afraid I might miss someone!

I'm thankful for the friends and family that stood by me and will stand by me when I'm down and/or going through difficult times. I'm thankful I have SF to hold onto when times are difficult and i don't want to burden my family. And my kitties that keep me from being alone at home. Lots of good things happen to me ; it's just hard to recognize it when I am down.

I'm thankful for my children, without whom I probably wouldn't be here. And to the wonderful people on SF who always listen without judgement.

And I'm also thankful for pet insurance as I've just had the latest bill from the vets

Right now I'm thankful for new coffee I'm going to make at home instead if going to buy everyday. Cafe Bustelo, very good.

I'm thankful to live in a country that is free and I dont have to run away from with no home.

Thankful for the people that work tirelessly to save the endangered species on our planet.

Thankful I've had the chance to live my life, have children that I love, for a foster mother that treated me like a real daughter.

Thankful for SF and to be able to pay my bills.

Well it's free only if you have money. Otherwise the only thing that is free is starvation and death

thanks for opening the cafe @Butterfly !!! good theme!!! the thing i am most greatful for is my daughter. both of them although one has passed. i am thankful for my friends here. i am thankful that i have had the opportunity to be a mother and try to be a good friend to others

A little disclaimer, I loath gratitude lists. The write down a bunch of things just to because it's expected. There are a lot of things I should be thankful for that I'm just not. That's probably an attitude problem, but it is. So when I write these things they are things that in this moment, today, I am thankful for.

In no particular order:
Friends - People I can truly rely on, laugh with, trust, share the good, bad and ugly with.
My cat - She's currently curled up right next to the computer sleeping. She keeps me company and makes life less lonely.
My boss - Some describe her as a bitch. She's got a filter problem lol. I get her, and I don't find her offensive at all. She's a great boss. She'd NEVER throw her employees under the bus. She will try to support us in any way she can.
Coffee - I find it comforting. Some like to curl up with tea, I like a nice cup of coffee
Warm blankets - It's fucking cold in here!!!
