Thanks @Angie @Lane !

How do you feel about the holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)? Over many years, I've found that the best time is the weeks and days leading up to the holiday. The actual holiday day tends to be more of a meh than a culmination. Even worse, the days afterwards mean everything is suddenly gone and it's back to the same old grind πŸ˜‘
If the holidays are difficult for you, what strategies do you use to deal? I'm retired (more accurately, they retired me), so every day is a holiday of sorts, at least until I find another job, if that ever happens 😐
Do you have any positive memories of the holidays?
Mainly from childhood, when I still believed Santa was real, even though he looked and felt like the next-door neighbor πŸ˜‚
What would a good holiday season look like to you?
Away from civilization at night, trekking overland to a starry winter sky and sparkling snow-covered pines (done that in the past and recall how starlight and snow make it seem almost as bright as day).

Thanks @Angie for opening the cafe and @Lane for tagging me.

How do you feel about the holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)?
I've never liked the commerical side of the hoildays and would be quite baa humbug as they approached but my ex would make a massive effort to decorate and makes crafts for the hoildays. It was something that I really admired about them, even with all the crap they faced, they still make a fuss. So, by the time that Xmas was here I really loved spending time with them, opening presents and watching Xmas movies. I would plan and organise the food and cook a nice main meal and they would do a pudding, something really over the top and massive, that we would be eating for days afterwards, it was great.

However... now they have left me, this will be the first Xmas on my own for 25 years without her.
If the holidays are difficult for you, what strategies do you use to deal? I'm planning to try and work over Xmas or at least just do work on the house.

Do you have any positive memories of the holidays? Lots with my ex.

What would a good holiday season look like to you? To be over as quick as possible - baa humbug!
