Well as saw the cafe was still dark...thought would open up for the weekend. We made it!

I'm just getting things sorted so apologize for the lack of breakfast treats...but it is National Scrapple Day believe it or not...which one of my friends simply loves being from Delaware...so got me thinking...what unusual breakfast dish is the area you are from known for?... Know not a very inventive theme/question...so anyone else please feel free to suggest one or more!....

So did bring some scrapple...but admit that I'll pass...

I've just googled scrapple. It looks totally unhealthy and therefore I'd probably love it!

Being from the England, the traditional breakfast here is the Full English but it's something most of us certainly wouldn't eat every day and it's probably more of a brunch due to its size.
Sometimes it comes with black pudding (a sausage made from pigs blood) which is sliced and fried. Must admit, I love black pudding..

Thank you for opening and invite @Kiwi2016. Never did Scrapple but had a taste for corned beef hash as a kid. I do like the English style of beans on the side.

In NJ its famous for pork roll and you eat it on a roll with egg n cheese for breakfast.

what is scrapple anyway? i never had it. one might think it is scraped apples. is that anywhere close? the weird stuff we have in nyc for breakfast i think is bagels and lox. but weird it is not. i’m not feeling well this weekend at all so i’m really grateful for the cafe refuge. thanks kiwi. i lost my job on thursday and my life is really in a weird place now. so much to do immediately and no idea of where to begin. i’m just wasting time for the third day now... but i’d like some scrapple and hot tea and company now. so here i am.

And it's soooooo good. We have a farm shop/cafe up the road that makes all of its own sausages and black pudding on site from their own livestock. The quality is amazing. I wish I could send you some.

Big thing here in the South is sausage gravy and biscuits. I always have a pound of sausage in the refrigerator and a package of biscuits to bake in case I'm too lazy to make from scratch. A pound gives me a huge breakfast and usually enough to take to work on Monday for lunch.

I use more gravy and no lawn clippings though.

my parents and grandparents all liked scrapple back in the GOOD OLD DAYS and used to be butchers around /small slaughter houses (still is one up by slipperyrock university ) my family used to get bread size pans of scrapple

i dont recall eating scrapple it personally as i prefer these scrambled or over easy



i love these tiny hidden gems that look like no big dealbut are magically delicious best to call in a order so you get what you want and allso to cut down the waiting time as these places get extremely crowded

thanks much kdm. that answers my question certainly. i remember it being advertized on radio or tv when i was a kid and not knowing what it was i didn’t want it. now i’d like to try some. i’m getting i list of thing i want to try. wish we all could meet and have a feast!

Had never heard of scrapple before! Sounds yummy!

I don’t know if my area is known for breakfast foods. Maybe pancakes with butter and lots of maple syrup?

I’ve lived here all my life and learned just recently that maple syrup has different grades depending on colour and I think sugar contents. Light, amber, dark...




Now I want scrapple and pancakes! And biscuits and gravy! And crumpets. Oh my goodness - crumpets! I haven’t tried blood pudding yet, but would definitely give it a taste.
