Tysm for the tag @Kiwi2016 :) I'd never heard of those scrapple things either but they look good from the pix & description of what they are. Don't think we are "known" for any kind of special breakfast food here so I'm just gonna post some random pix of some things I like, happy Saturday everyone! :)

(I put this & the above collage together, pix I found online of some cute/cool dolls) :)

I think the vast majority of people don't eat breakfast anymore. Who has time for that shit?

At most people do yoghurts or cold dishes for the kids. The most creative kinds maybe make simple French toasts.

I personally prefer veggies and cheese but I don't do breakfasts either. Actually, due to my wacky non-schedule, I've long gave up on meal designations and just call everything "lunch". I'm so much into it I actually get surprised when people give me weird looks after I ask them out for "lunch" at 3am.

Everyone...loved all the breakfast foods...so sorry had to open and run as the day got away from me...but have added to my wish list for coming weekends ... but think black pudding and scrapple will not be on that list...but haven't ever tried the latter so may just have to try as my curiosity is peaked I will admit ...

Well as saw the cafe was still dark...thought would open up for the weekend. We made it!

I'm just getting things sorted so apologize for the lack of breakfast treats...but it is National Scrapple Day believe it or not...which one of my friends simply loves being from Delaware...so got me thinking...what unusual breakfast dish is the area you are from known for?... Know not a very inventive theme/question...so anyone else please feel free to suggest one or more!....

So did bring some scrapple...but admit that I'll pass...

Scrapper is not that unusual, I don't think. Tastes amazing, too. I love scrapple...almost as much as bacon.

Ok you may have convinced me to give it another try since I know it does really have to be crispy...so it's back on my list to give it another go as they say...lol...

The outside has to be crispy, and the middle soft and chewy. It varies by individual, though, how thick they like the pieces to be. Some people like them thinner and some like them on the thicker side. I, personally, prefer them a little thicker because I like the soft, chewy middle. But if you're not into that, make them thin.

Ok...thinking I'll go for the thinner side as last time I tried was thicker...

Okay, I would cut them like 1/4 of an inch thick then. My husband likes them thinner and crispier also, so I've made it both ways before. And remember to add a shitton of butter if you don't have a good non-stick pan because they are going to stick to the bottom otherwise and the thinner they are, the more easily they break when you try to flip them. So just be careful doing that and use a spatula. I do like 5-7 minutes on each side on medium-high heat, but it might vary depending on the pan and your stove.

Thanks for the cooking instructions as I'm hopeless in the kitchen...so it's on my list to buy and give it a go...

Thanks for the tag @Kiwi2016! I haven't heard of Scrapple either. Is that a well known NZ thing? I have to admit I do like black pudding too. If it wasn't for the fact that we had it as kids I probably wouldn't touch it. I love white pudding too.

I couldn't start the day without breakfast. I'd happily have a full English every day and skip lunch. I've tried the healthy options like fruit etc but I have to have protein or I'm ravenous about an hour later.

well, i am so delighted to not be working there anymore that i wish i could celebrate but then there is the fact that i need to keep my income at the same level to support my family and be able to keep our home. that certainly tempers my delight, doesn’t it.
nope!
Sorry to hear about your job @extraterrestrialone. Hope that something suitable comes up for you soon but I'm glad you get some time off.
