One hour left of my Friday and I've been really busy today.

Thought today it would be good to reflect. Have you ever had a animal or person show you compassion and help you in a way that was profound?

For me I've had a couple of instances that come to mind. One will stick with me forever. I owned a cat named Patrick and lived on my own in a house with a fireplace. It was late afternoon and I was sleepy so went for a nap.
Patrick woke me up jumping on my chest, the house was full of smoke to just below the mattress. I'm grateful Patrick jumped on me. It's not something he would usually do.

Come join in cafe and bring some food please, too late for me to eat but I know some of you will be wanting breakfast.

My baby boy (dog) Ollie has been by my side for a year and 4 months and he's the best decision I've made. I recently had a breakdown and felt like a crappy mommy for neglecting to brush him and bathe him regularly so I tried to give him a haircut (he's a maltese pom) but I realized that I was doing a shit job and pulled a Britney Spears circa 2007 and accidentally cut off so much hair. I kept apologizing and he just sat on the chair and kept kissing me sensing my distress. I joke about how he's an emotional support dog despite zero training and the fact that he's usually hyperactive and not very behaved. He's literally the love of my life and I dont know where I'd be if it werent for him. There were times when I'd try to attempt but he'd look at me or run up to me and I'd realize that I cant leave him behind.

Good morning all and what a wonderful theme for the cafe on a Friday...I have to give it some more thought as though there haven't been any singular moments of compassion that spring to mind I feel so fortunate to have experienced so much continual support and compassion here on SF over the last three years for which I am forever grateful.

Thought we could use some fancy coffees for a Friday.....

My dog came to my house just about 3 months ago and he looked so sad and depressed the first days, I liked to look into his eyes and thought about what he was thinking, maybe he was so lonely. Well, staying with him is such a comfort and it's more like I'm comforting him but in fact I just love to stay with him, and he is silent, quiet those times. No one even noticed that he is not only helping me, but also my whole family - but that's the truth. (I'd never tell you he destroyed everything on the floor when he was alone in the room one time!)

He probably just missed you and had a hard time adjusting but Im happy to see how much you care about him as well :)

of course my wife who has been my rock fo 41 years. and we had a dog my family got for me when I first became disabled a basset hound/daschound mix. I was extremely depressed because I loved to work (I was a workaholic) and couldn't deal with not being able to work. well this dog could sense when I started to feel bad and wouldn't leave me alone until I cheered up. sometimes he would spend hours playing or snuggling or whatever it took to make me feel better. he helped me survive those dark times...mike

One time, after I'd had an argument with my family that left me feeling upset, I was sitting outside in the rain sulking when my cat (Jeff) came over and snuggled up to me. It's almost as if he could tell I was upset and was comforting me. Also when I'm lying down and my sister's dog (Tyson - lovely dog!) comes over to check on me as if he thinks I'm dead or something lol

I had a older dog for a service dog. he always knew when I wasn't doing good and after being picked up and put on the bed he would lay next to me til I got up. for one reason or another which I don't know how he knew if I was wanting/trying to SH he would come and sit in my lap preventing me from harm. no matter how many times I moved him he came right back

Not an animal but a woman I know that lives near me, she takes the time out of her busy day to walk over to me and ask me how I am and she's extremely friendly and shows compassion, she offers to go for walks with me because I'm always alone, I decline politely because that would be anxiety inducing. She cares and I appreciate her so much. It's the little things in life, isn't it? *yes
